I hate leaving bad reviews but I continue to be disappointed by this establishment and this last purchase was the final straw. First I want to start by saying the cake here is always delicious - which is why I keep going back. But the decorating. I don’t know if they have new people who don’t know what they are doing or if they stopped caring but the last few cakes I have asked for have been bad. Customer service when ordering a cake has also gotten negative and difficult. I recently called for my son’s 21st birthday cake. The man who answered was dry and unhelpful and unenthusiastic from the start. I tried to talk to him about colors and he was negative immediately, telling me if I’m asking for gold it wasn’t a metallic gold. I told him I didn’t want a metallic shiny gold. The kind of gold he was describing was fine. Because my last two cakes they decorated were so bad I kept it simple - brown and gold border with a 21 in the middle. As soon as I said brown and gold border he immediately tells me what they WON’T do. I wish I could remember exactly what he said but I was so taken aback by it I told him that was fine - I didn’t expect anything wildly intricate. I just wanted a clean, nice, masculine design. On Thursday I go to pick up the cake and what I saw was terrible - I have literally never been so disappointed with a cake that I’ve purchased. I think I very well could have done myself - because at least I would have tried. I understand I didn’t have a clear cut picture to give them something to work off of - but as I mentioned above I’ve given them inspiration pics for my last two cakes and all I get when submitting them is how they can’t do what I’m asking. Which is why this time I asked for a simple design. But the final result didn’t even look as if it came from a professional bakery. It looked like whomever decorated could not have cared less about my cake if they tried. It had nothing to do with colors used but how bad it ended up looking. They did offer to fix it when I expressed how unhappy I was but I was going out of town after picking up the cake (my son is in college) and I did not have time and was too upset at how bad it was to even think clearly. They also offered to let me take it for free. But that was not my goal. I was not there for a free cake. I was there because it’s always been our favorite bakery and that’s what my son wanted for his birthday. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but the lack of care and effort that went into this cake, along with how unhelpful and negative the person was on the phone when I initially ordered it, was just too much. Look at this cake below and honestly tell me if it looks like it came from a professional bakery, and if you would be proud to serve this to your friends and family for a...
Read moreMy wedding was on July 20, 2024 and I knew what I wanted(angel food cake). Thanks to an amazing family member they offered to pay for our cake and cupcakes as a wedding gift. ( I'm a professional baker and really wanted my own and should have put my foot down)
I ordered three flavors of cupcakes white, chocolate, and red velvet. The white and chocolate were alright not much flavor to them. Many people grabbed a red velvet one and everyone that had one said it was the worst red velvet they've ever had. It tastes like nothing but pure alcohol. Nobody finished but maybe 2 people. Once the liners were removed from the cupcakes they crumbled in you hands almost immediately ( not what cupcakes are supposed to do at all)
Also order a two tier cake chocolate on bottom and white one top. I wanted thin black icing around to cover the gaps when stacking and ribbon was used which made a lot extra work for me to just cut the first piece with my husband. Had to disassemble the whole top tier. Eventually the bottom chocolate was cut into......two pieces out and the cake crumbles on one side( pictured above).
The red velvet had regular frosting not a cream cheese like it's supposed to.
You could feel the oil from the frosting in your mouth.
I absolutely love angel food cake and that's what I wanted, he told me it was impossible for me to have that, cause it wouldn't stack. Fun fact my guy it does if you don't bake it in the normal pan for angel food.
Wanted me to bring back a 6 inch plastic plate that the top tier sat on. Ive never asked any of my clients to bring something back to me after they've cleaned it. That's always included in the price and/or deposit.
I wish I would have chosen another place to make my cake or made it myself but I was told Adams would be the best and to my liking. I made the appointment for tasting and I can tell you it was two totally different cakes.
Definitely will not be going back, and definitely will not be recommending them to anyone outside of offering my services.
Thank you for adding the extra stress and tears on my wedding day. It was incredibly sad and left a bad taste...
Read moreUnfortunately 3 out of the 4 cakes I've had from Adam's we're subpar at best, & one was just average. Dry & bland was the problem with all of them. The best one I had still was pretty far from "moist". I can appreciate the cakes are not too sweet, but would still like some flavor. The frosting was better, but still left much to be desired. The cake is definitely something you want your guests to enjoy, and you can just tell when the cake is not a hit. I hate to say this but for basic cakes like this I would much rather have one from Meijer, WalMart, Kroger, or Costco. Smh. I heard years ago they we're better?
The cookie I had from there was...
