Go! Just go, The shop owner, Deni, is great. She was personable, speedy with preparation, & has good prices. We went around 5:30 pm on a Saturday & were the only ones— bummer (even though I understand sandwich shop prime hour isn’t 5:30 on a Saturday) because this place is a find for a small town. It’s right for a big town too. She will customize your sandwich if nothing strikes your fancy. There are mainstream options as well as vegetarian options on the menu, and she’s lived in NC as well as NYC, so I bet she can accommodate whatever you are jonesing for. Are you the basic cup of coffee person? Go. You like Starbucks beans making your coffee but would also like a hearty sammich— get coffee and sandwich for the price of coffee elsewhere. Need to sit outside with the dog? She’s got a table or two on the front sidewalk. Got kids? Plenty of room inside and games to do. Got teens? Plenty of eclectic seating so your kids can sit in a different booth/pew/table and pretend you don’t exist. And if it’s slow, ask her about what food art she’s put together lately, or ask about her actress mom, who the place is named after. Finally, be sure to get a “black & white.” Never had one? Trust me in this. Like a bit of cake posing as a cookie…. So go and let’s keep this shop...

I had The New Yorker at Donna Kaye's and couldn't believe just delicious it was - awesome portions and reasonably priced. This restaurant brought back memories of tasty sandwiches from my childhood. I'll be back when I'm in Elkin or make a special trip here and there. If your looking for an authentic deli step in and dine here! ...

The food was not only amazing, but very generous with the meat, cheese, etc. They also have a variety of desserts, salads, and snacks. This would definitely be my go-to lunch spot if I was located in the area. The atmosphere is very lively and the place is filled with pictures and paintings that tell so many stories, giving it a very...
