The RailYard — Restaurant in Elkin

This was a hidden little gem in our search for something to do. The food was from a BBQ truck. It was decent. We ordered the loaded brisket fries. They were very messy and the fries were a little bland. The area was really clean and there is plenty of seating either in the shade or sun and at tables or just a chair in the lawn. You can even bring your own chair. There are quite a lot of beer choices. There is also live music which adds to the experience. Visiting Elkin for the first time. Thought the rain was going to stop us from checking out The Rail Yard ... but we found a break in the rain, and they were open! Cool atmosphere, in casual backyard environment. It's like visiting that cool friend with backyard you always wanted! Met owners Virgil and Mitzi along with other beer tenders. We found this while wandering around Elkin. It wasn't open the day we stopped by, but got to speak with Donald about what all they have there. Live music, food trucks, clean restrooms, shady areas, probably dog and kid friendly, local beer on tap. Elkins has a social district, but this place will not allow outside drinks from other establishments. This is in a very walkable area and free street parking and lots neat by. Can't wait to visit again when they are open on...
