C.J. Maggie's — Restaurant in Elkins

My boyfriend and I are from KY and just passing thru saw their menu items and decided we had to go.Omg! The food was excellent at least from my opinion. I couldn't decide which meal I wanted it was between the stuffed pork loin and the Alfredo pie. So I asked the waitress who also seated us unlike the hostess whom I'm not sure she knew what she was doing. Anyways our waitress was a tall blonde who worked the left side of this cool place of a restaurant last night i didn't catch her name I wish I did so I could praise her for her work. She suggested the Alfredo pie which was too die for should've taken a pic but its fettuccine alfredo with like a caramelized crust around it and the marinara was awesome!. Sure don't have this in KY.!!! My boyfriend had the lizard lips for an appetizer which he is a connoisseur of food cause he travels all the time so he eats out all the time. So everything is always just ok to him but he did say he liked the lizard lips.He said the spicy chicken pasta was OK. Decent is what he said He did love the sauteed spinach though. I loved the fried green beans with honey mustard . The sweet Tea was excellent. Even got some to go. And the deserts my boyfriend said the milkshake impressed him he says " super good!" And I had the caramelized apple cookie. Without the ice cream the cookie seemed dry but put the ice cream and the baked apples together was good. Loved the apples! I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who will be in Elkins West Virginia. They even had cool music playing. The food was okay in my opinion. I think they have the right idea but the execution was a bit off. For example I did one of their pastas. Don't recall the name. May have been burgundy pasta. It was steak and mushrooms. The sauce wasn't really a sauce but more of a broth. I felt like I was eating linguine and steak out of a soup. That sauce should have been reduced down more and maybe added something to thicken it up. It didn't cling to my pasta at all. My girlfriend got some kinda shrimp and tomato pasta. The consistency was right but the flavor was missing. It turned out very very bland. Some garlic and fresh herbs could have gone along way with this dish. I'm not saying anything was horrible but it was certainly lacking that extra touch. The French onion soup left alot to be desired. Something in it was very off putting. I would just restart with that recepie. I will say the jalapeno wrapped in bacon was excellent. Seemed to be a sweater maybe candied bacon wrapped around a jalapeno with Italian sausage. When we were seated we were advised that there was only two waitresses so it may take a while to get our order taken. We said we were fine with that.

When the waitress came we ordered drinks, and appetizer, and our meals. The waitress returned with drinks in a little bit.

After about a half hour wait she brought out our appetizer and our entrees. Not ideal but it was fine.

The nachos had a good taste to them but they were pretty soggy. It seemed like they were sitting in the back ready for a while. My friend ordered pizza and said it was okay. I ordered a smash burger. The inside of the burger was pretty much raw. The burger was so greasy the bottom bun was soggy. The French fries were good.

Overall I was highly disappointed in the food. The burger was inedible.

We then ordered ice cream and when the waitress came back with it she said my flavor was melted but it will still taste good.

The atmosphere was nice so it's a true shame the food was so awful. I hope they can get things sorted out. I won't be...
