Like the Buffett , only thing is about that is I live 30-45 min away on a good day! I hate ordering from a menu because your constrained. The buffet allows you at least to sample a bunch of stuff or just eat your fav food their. It varies for me every day. Also it sucks for take out ( my distance away) I can order it when one of my family members is in ellsworth. I lover Chinese food. Just some of it makes me I'll ( CRAB RANGOON) UGHHH but love the wings, beef fried rice, sweet n sour chicken and a bunch of other stuFF and oh yeah the egg rolls ( not the shrimp ones) they should start the buffet on the days they have them to start earlier . If your in ellsworth and from out of town I highly suggest eating their. It's a good atmosphere (;if you don't have 2 wait 4 a table) but the buffet is the way to go so you can sample everything. If I get take out its always the pu-pu platter for 2 and an extra side of beef fried rice cuz Chinese is excellent leftovers and easily reheated unlike McDonalds, BK etc but Chinese you can eat , fridge, reheat, fridge, reheat lol. ( only reheat what I'm eating not all of it at once lol. Their are a few other oriental restraunts, in Ellsworth but this one has lasted the longest. Also the parking lot is usualy packed Friday,Sat,Sun and you will most likely be parking out in the back 40. So if you intend to hit China Hill up for its Buffet ide suggest arriving early or you will be sitting in the front untill a booth or take opens up and people tend to gab , so they sit their after they eat and waste 30-45 min for a family reunion! So go early and try off peak hours if you don't care if you get the buffet etc So go n eat some Chinese!:. It's good or least was last...
Read moreAn interesting dining experience to say the least, while my wife and I visited the Acadia National Park over the Memorial Day weekend in 2025. I can't complain since there was really no other Chinese food around in the general vicinity. Being the only "Chinese" restaurant around, we accepted the challenge and gladly tried whatever they would offered. The entire experience felt like "Back to the 70's". My wife had no idea what to order, since she was only a recent transplant from China some 9 years ago. I was looking for columns A, B or C, finally settled for Egg Foo Young with Egg Roll, and hope all would be well. I ordered more than enough food (and to go hoping to save some money since Bay Harbor's lobster rolls were quite expensive). We picked up (3) huge watermelons from nearby Walmart Super Center to bring back to NYC. Food, below par, it is not close enough to what I was used to as 70's Cantonese Chinese Food, but it would do under the circumstances. Service, acceptable, I cannot complain, but my wife was not so adaptable. She was quite reasonable and understanding. Ambience, I felt like I was transported back in time some 50 years ago, except not a single Chinese were in sight, except us. The entire experience was unreal. Would I come back? Probably.....if I ever revisited Acadia National Park again, which maybe highly unlikely. Would I recommend this restaurant? Sure, why not? It was the only game around that was closely resemble...
Read moreMyself and my family frequent China Hill regularly. We even hold most family birthday parties and other celebrations at this location. I have always been very pleased with them until the last two functions we have held there. The waitress we have had both times paid little to no attention to the needs of 20 plus guests and was very rude. We got most everything we needed ourselves, including water, clearing our plates and those that chose to have drinks had to go into the lounge to get service. The waitress was downright rude and seemed as though she was being bothered. As we were leaving tonight I over heard our waitress and another one of the waitresses (which were standing by the dining area) talking about our group. They were saying how she didn't like our big party and that she had to do things for us and that if we ever came there again that she would make sure she did not have to wait on us. The other waitress, who had nothing to do with us, also said she did not think that she would wait on us either and would make sure she did not get us as a party if we came in again. I made sure to say something to the OWNER on my way out and she had nothing to say. I feel as though with as much money that we spent tonight and in the past we should have gotten much better service and at least an apology from the owner. We frequent there so often we are all on a first name basis. I am beyond disappointed with the service and treatment that we...
