The dumplings are REALLY good and worth trying. Our egg fried rice could have used a little more seasoning to it. Where this place lacks is in their website. It is very slow and confusing because they have an "Order Online" button, which takes your order, tells you how much it will cost, automatically selects delivery and over a certain cost, delivery is free, but also has a small check box that allows you to pick up. We wanted delivery so continuing through the checkout process, it took my order, but no payment. I received a confirmation email that is was going to be delivered and to pay by cash. I called to give a CC payment over the phone or figure out how to redo the order with payment online and the person instructed me to call doordash and work it out with them. I explained that I didn't order through doordash and it was through their website and she didn't seem to understand so I had no idea if we were even going to get food delivered. I eventually called back and had them cancel that order if they even got it and placed a pick up order.
When I returned with our food, nothing was labeled and all the dumplings looked the same and not being a dumpling expert I cannot just look that them and say "OH this is ..." so I had to cut into each one and hope that I distributed correctly. But after all the mess, we were extremely happy with the food we got and will definitely be back. I suggest not using the website for ordering purposes until the issues are...
Read moreWe were looking for a soup dumpling restaurant in the Milwaukee area and found the “Dumpling House” via THE Google. When we entered the establishment, we were greeted by very disturbing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) which is very similar to Techno Music playing loudly in the dining room. We both enjoy most types of music and we were hoping that it was just a track or two, but were very disappointed that the music never changed from that genre. Ok so they play loud and obnoxious music, but we were hoping for a decent soup dumpling.
Our server spent most of his time behind the bar looking at his phone. Because of this the service was slow. He never checked in on us once our food arrived and never filled our water glasses.
Now for the food. We ordered an order of pork soup dumpling and an order of fried beef dumplings. It was sub-par. The soup dumplings did not have any soup in them. Ok, there was a teaspoon of soup in one of the dumplings out of 8. When we opened the fried dumplings up they were not fried. They looked and tasted like the pork soup dumplings. There was also an odd taste to the meat in both of the dumplings. We do NOT recommend...
Read moreIn the mood for some dumplings-it had been a long time- I found this on Google and thought it looked good.
It was! The restaurant itself is large, not huge, but bigger inside than it looked from the outside. High ceilings helped the illusion. We were seated right away and given menus. Lots of choices. Many dumplings and tempura offerings. Sushi as well. After drinks we ordered. Pork and shrimp dumplings and the BBQ pork buns. The hostess/waitress suggested the soup of the day, a special from her country. We agreed. Glad we did.
The food arrived quickly and we dug in. The dumplings were steamed to perfection. Absolutely delicious. The pork buns were also fantastic. Steamed as well and packed with flavor. But the star of the dinner was the soup. A clear broth with some petite dumplings in it. We were told to use some vinegar in it to make it sour, and it was so good! Could have gotten another bowl of that. But after the dumplings and buns, we were full. All the food and a Saki for my wife and a beer for me for under $60 was a steal.
Will definitely be returning. So do yourself a favor and stop in. Hopefully they have their special soup. Truly the star...
