Shake Shack Bay Street — Restaurant in Emeryville

Okay, my first Shake Shack experience in Portland, OR was so awful I had to leave a 1 and a scathing review of the frankly disgusting staff attitude and pitiful food at inflated prices.

I reluctantly chose to ate at this one while travelling

BUT!

I am so so so so glad I did.

Shake Shack is an incredible burger experience when delivered by professionals. I had the Shack Stack - essentially a cheese burger with a portobello cap and fries and a malted choco shake. Yeah the shake is excellent.

I dont think I have ever had fast food this good before. The hype is valid and real.

Yes, you will get sticker shock but go with it, totally worth it, my Burger, fries and shake came to 29.50 or so. Usual chain culprits are at $15 - 20 for the equivalent. Shke shack is worth it.

The fries are cooked in clean fresh oil making them tasty and crispy.

The burgers are perfection. ( Why Portland it came out looking like it had been trodden on I dont know why, cold fries, the pierced and tattooed server wiping his nose on his forearm as he dropped it on my table, priceless. See the indifferent canned repsonse. Does Jean Georges Vongerichten know they represent him? Huh. )

Staff here not particularly smiley but very fast efficient and very polite. Thank you. Great cooks as well :-)

Inspired and...

I went to this location several times, and last week I went with my friend. We ordered Strawberry Lemonade, but I wasn’t sure if refills were allowed for this drink. After finishing the meal, I went back and asked for a refill. A staff member, a Spanish guy with white skin, about 5 feet tall (I don’t remember his name), told me that I couldn’t get refills on tea or lemonade, which I understood. However, when I checked the website again, it said that tea and lemonade are refillable.

I went back today and asked the cashier if I could get refills, and she was very nice and said yes. When I went to get the refill, I encountered the same guy again. He told me I couldn’t refill tea or lemonade. I told him I had already asked the cashier, and she told me I could. He then said she was wrong and told me he would call the manager for me. After turning away, he said a bad word to another staff member and just went inside a small corner, walked around, and then came back to me. It was ridiculous because he didn’t even speak to the manager. His attitude was very bad and unprofessional. I contacted the corporate office, and they confirmed that I am allowed to...

This is the second time in 3 weeks that this happens. I came back willing to give it another chance but will not anymore. I placed my order via the tablets in store, a simple burger and simple fries, no modifications. I get the text that my order is in and that I will receive another text when ready then… nothing. It was pretty busy today so I knew I would probably have to wait a little. I go to the shop next door and after 40mn of not receiving another text to tell me my order is ready I go back. And when I ask for it, it’s there on the shelf in the back. Team member gives it to me. STONE COLD. When I share that I never received the text, the guy talks to who I suppose is the manager, she instructs him to remake the order. Once ready they hand it to me like it’s normal that I waited 45mn. Not a look, not an apology, not a try to understand what happened not even a smile. I work in hospitality too mind you, literally across the street, 75 employees, 75 potential clients, a bunch actual regular clients including me since a couple of years until today… this is really bad advertising Shake Shack as I will make sure to share this with...
