First things first! I didn’t realize this location was in Emeryville, so seeing it as I was going to go run other errands in the area made me stop. I have been wanting to get my hands on and test out one of these mattresses for a while. I had not too long ago stayed overnight at a friends in their guest room which had a purple. No one could tell me which one it was when I stayed with them, so as apprehensive as I was to go into the store, I was very excited once I was greeted by the wonderful salesperson on the floor. She gave me a quick walk-through, which only took about five minutes or so, and help me pick out which mattress to lay on first based upon my sleeping style. After which I was left to my own devices to try out the mattresses and pillows, but that didn’t take me long. We stood around and we chatted about the mattresses and how comfortable I thought that they were and which one would ultimately be the one that I’d probably pick. The entire experience was no pressure, not little pressure, but no pressure at all. I enjoyed our interaction so much I did actually hang out for a little while and chat with the staff there, and they were all very pleasant. After five more minutes of listening to me ramble about how amazing the mattresses were, and them all telling me which one they own now, they sent me home with a sample. Buying a mattress, at least for me, can be a bit of a hassle/stressful process, but I didn't experience any of that when I decided to buy through Purple. I went to the Bay Street Emeryville store and Daryl (store manager) helped me try out and purchase a Restore Hybrid mattress during their Memorial Day sale. I can say that I felt very comfortable and taken care of throughout the whole process; Daryl helped me understand exactly what I was buying, how much I was actually spending, and the options I had to deliver my mattress (and return it, if I needed to). I ended up taking the mattress home myself from the store the same day I bought it. Thank you to Daryl for making the whole process simple and comfortable.

I am very happy so far with my Purple Restore Hybrid mattress; I just try not to think about how much I spent for it, especially if you consider you can basically buy a budget $400-500 bed every couple years for a whole decade before you equal the purchase price of the Purple mattress. If price is the biggest factor for you, then Purple probably isn't your choice, and that would make total sense to me. But if you're buying solely based on how the bed feels, then Purple is definitely worth...

We were really excited to get the Purple mattress and their amazing pillows. There was a helpful and detail-oriented associate (unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name) who patiently explained the features of different mattresses. When we were ready to make a decision, we inquired about the discounts. They informed us that there was a 10% sale for healthcare professionals. The associate clearly explained what the final cost would be. My wife didn't have her work ID with her, but she provided a picture of her medical license and work ID instead.

However, Mr. James, who claimed to be a senior staff member, refused to accept these as proof, which was quite disappointing after spending so much time in the store. Flexibility is crucial in business, but Mr. James’s response showed a lack of common sense. He had all the necessary identification in front of him—a driver’s license, medical license, and work ID photo—yet he still refused to honor the discount.
