Read moreAte here today for the first time. I choose it as I heard they had a good salad bar. I arrived around 12:20pm I think. At first I sat at my table without being acknowledged for almost 5 minutes, but they were busy, so I understood. I wasnt in a hurry anyway. Then a server came & brought a menu & took my drink order. Then 2 more stopped by to make sure my drink order had been taken. Looking great now! My server arrived & took my lunch order, then brought me a plate for the salad bar. Yes, salad bar was good. It wasnt really really big but had plenty of choices AND Honey Mustard Dressing, one of my favorites. Everything was fresh. I realized when I sat down with my salad that she had not brought any silverware so I got up & found some at the salad bar. My entree arrived not too long afterwards & that was the last time I saw my server. Neither she, nor anyone else, ever stopped back by to see if all was ok or if I needed a refill on my tea, which I would have like to have had. I had the Hickory Chicken which was grilled chicken breast covered in onions, cheese, & BBQ sauce. It was great. My same server had waited on the table next to me & those two women finally flagged down a different server to bring them something they needed. Our server just never returned. When I finished eating I went to the restroom & when I came back my table had been cleared off....! So I went to the counter to pay & told the cashier that my table had been cleared & no one had ever brought me a ticket. She figured out my check & I paid it. That is when I saw my server. She was sitting at the counter with her back to the room, eating lunch. She was halfway through a chicken fried steak dinner it looked like. That is when I became somewhat annoyed. I worked as a server for 2 years when I was younger & we were told that you NEVER eat during lunch/dinner hours. And you certainly NEVER Eat When You Have Customers Seated Who Might Need Attention. Since the young woman was half way thru her plate I am assuming thats where she had been when we had needed her attention for the last 15/20 minutes. SO, all & all, the cafe is nice, clean, people are nice, server was nice, food was good with a large variety offered, & I will definately be back to try more items , but I feel like somebody needs a little reminder on customer service. It shouldn't end when you put the plate on the table & walk away. And thats the only reason I gave 4 stars...
Read moreWe were in town while on a little cabin getaway from San Antonio. This place is a small town cute diner atmosphere with smiling friendly servers and DELICIOUS food. It was a little busy on a Monday at 11am so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. We were a party of 6 and our orders came out perfectly seasoned and cooked. They were even able to accommodate my 4 yr old's ridiculous request to make a Mickey Mouse waffle with whipped cream and blueberries on the side. You can see from the pictures he was absolutely over-the-moon excited when it came out and definitely a great memory made from our trip. I ordered a veggie omelette with ham and it was seriously the best omelette I've ever had. Hashbrowns were perfectly seasoned and crispy too, just how I like them...so good! 🙌 Praise and props to the small town diner cooks here and all the sweet and patient servers we interacted with.
You will NOT be disappointed if you stop in to get a bite to eat here!
Thank you Y'all...
