VEGETARIANS NEED NOT INQUIRE! Openly HOSTILE and DISCRIMINATORY against vegetarians! I checked online and Santiago's website says "vegetarian options available", so i tell my friends i can eat there. We went to the one at 4168 S Broadway on Friday 3/18 around 6 pm. When we get there, i order my brother's meal(he can eat meat, so he got chicken enchiladas). I ask if the beans are vegetarian or are made with lard. I could tell the second i said "Vegetarian", the cashier was done wanting to help me and he just tried to rush the rest of the transaction. Since i couldn't get a burrito, my backup was to get chile rellenos, which i only saw available as a plate, so i ordered that. The cashier continued to rush me through the transaction. As he was having me sign the bill, i could actually ask if the rice was vegetarian or made with beef or chicken stock. He replied that "nothing here is vegetarian" in a tone that told me he was done answering questions(i had only asked 2). I did verify the rellenos are not made with meat and he confirmed that with a "well, yeah" as he started helping the next person in line. I didn't even get a reciept until later while i was waiting for my food and he was clearing his counter and yelled out "Hey you left your reciept". I noticed the cashier was friendly and helpful with OTHER customers. I got my food and left, figuring i'd give the beans and rice to my brother. Got to my friends house and found the rellenos swimming in pork chile. So now i can't eat anything i had ordered. The cashier knew i was vegetarian, but still let me order food with meat and made no effort to actually help me. I assume it was either because he didn't care at all, or was actively trying to sabotage my dinner. All he succeeded in doing was getting my money unethically and making me feel unwanted and uncomfortable. I will never come back. I ENCOURAGE EVERY VEGETARIAN TO AVOID ALL SANTIAGO'S, ESPECIALLY THE ENGLEWOOD LOCATION ON SOUTH...
Read moreOk so I've only recently moved to Colorado and so far most Mexican food has been... Ok at best. But after being told by several friends to try Santiago's I finally went.
I wish I would have come sooner. You walk into the small little place where there is a line winding around the small space, the smell of chilies and meat cooking, that feeling that all the work goes into the food rather than the decor or aesthetics. I was already excited.
I asked a few people inline their favorite and ended up opting for the carnitas burrito with chili and the breakfast burrito with chorizo. I was also able to try the bean and cheese burrito and the chili cheese fries.
Ok so first off the Carnitas was probably in my top 3 I've ever had and that is saying something. Added with the green chili just made it probably my go to menu item here since I am definitely coming back.
The breakfast burrito I am very picky about but that's on me. It comes with potatoes (which I understand is a lot easier for them to prep ahead but I just wish I could have had it without. That being said it was still very delicious the chorizo was flavorful though I wish I had a little more, but it is definitely a good burrito.
The beans are excellent and creamy they clearly make them themselves and were definitely not an afterthought. The chili cheese fries surprised me. If you are new to Colorado you might expect chili con carne but out here when you see it with chili or chili cheese X it usually refers to green chili made with hatch or similar green chili sometimes with meat. But seriously it is really good and worth finding spots that make it well. This is clearly one of them.
Prices are good and fair, service was quick, and food was hot and delicious. Hope to...
Read moreI would give them a ZERO if I could. After calling multiple times to place a catering order being put on hold, asked to call back and hung up on After talking to management through email and then being yelled at by the same person answering the phone because she got in trouble for not doing her job THEN showing up day of pick up to find out my order was never placed, the cooks had no idea that I needed 100 breakfast burritos and even suggested that I ordered from a different location. Just as I was about to leave someone (probably the same lady that yelled at me on the phone)pulls my ticket out from a book that she had in a cupboard above the register She entered everything in and then put it on the cook line so I had to wait in the lobby for 40 minutes. Meanwhile other people that had catering orders are coming in picking up their boxes and leaving. I’ve never had their food before and I only ordered it because my event suggested them but I will never spend another cent at this restaurant. The customer service is awful and in what world is it appropriate for staff to yell at a customer...
