Grand Ennis Buffet — Restaurant in Ennis

I usually expect a mediocre meal from this restaurant. This time, however, was an even bigger disappointment.

I sat down to eat an hour and 20 minutes before closing time to find that over half of the buffet was gone. What was left was thick, simmered down leftovers from what looked like 5 o'clock rush hour, and pans of vegetables that had the meat mostly picked out of them. Because it was raining and I'd driven a good bit out of my way I decided to stay. The food was lacking in color, but even moreso in texture and taste. Food that is usually firm or has a crunch was "soggy" for lack of a better word, and the donuts and other breads that are usually soft were hard. At about an hour before closing time, the staff was already starting to clean and remove food from the buffet. The only time any food was actually brought out was a small pan of chow meni, and even then it was only enough for a single serving.

I am very dissatisfied with the service, or lack thereof, I received tonight. The Dr. Pepper, however, was outstanding. I recommend you hire new staff immediately, or change your closing time to 8. An empty buffet an hour and 20 minutes before the listed closing time is U N A C C E P T A B L E

Upon arrival we walked into the restaurant which we noticed was dark inside, not like a moody ambience, but the kind of dark that made us second guess if they were open. The owner walked us to our seats, and the whole restaurant smells like cigarettes on the inside, like an old Dennys. We order our waters and go to get food, there’s a sign at every food bar that reads “Please stir food before serving” All of the food looked mushy, and was cold. We were the only ones there. If felt like an after apocalypse movie. They are holding food WAY past the holding times, and reheating. It’s so dark you cannot see what you are eating. The owner came in after smoking a cigarette and immediately went stirring food. You heard coughing and hacking from employees. We finally have had enough and walk up to the counter and the bill is $35!!!! We explain that we didn’t even eat, and just got waters and the owner did not apologize, nor ask what our concerns were. He did not attempt to make it right, instead he called the cops on us! It felt like he was used to the complains. It felt like there was no CARE that he was serving food that was not edible. On Sunday March 27 we went to eat lunch well nto really they charge you dinner price. My baby boy was eating jello and took a few bites and then refused to eat the rest my husband smelled the jello it was spoiled and looked like it had gone bad he has worked for hospital kitchen and said that is very dangerous to be serving spoiled food. Check your food when you go here we are long time customers but seems on some items they save for weeks and serve again.well I told the owners wife when we were leaving and all she said was I'm so sorry about that after it looked like she over charged us anyway didn't give us itimzed reciept we are regulars but after taking my son the next 2 days my son got sicker and I I took him toER they said he got food poisoning and is now on antibiotics his tummy was extended and has been in pain. You could have killed my toddler 😡😡😡😡😡 and all you said was sorry I highly doubt they replaced or checked the jello...
