Granny Dee's Pierogi — Restaurant in Ennis

I have been dying to try this resturant since looking for an authentic polish restaurant in the central texas area. My husband's family is polish so we drove 2 hours to try these fresh periogies and house made sausage. We were in heaven with every bite. The cabbage rolls were an explosion of flavor, the potato pancakes just like his grandma makes around hanukkah. I loved the options of fillings for the periogies. The dill pickle soup is not what you're used to but is a beautiful combination of flavors. The schnitzel was to die for. Goulash was full of tender beef and flavor. A great spot with great food! I was born in Poland and raised in a very Polish family in the midwest - the food has authentic flavors and is made with love. :) Came in today after visiting Ennis for the festival. Highly recommend. I recommend the Dill Pickle Soup, Ruskie pierogi, and mizernia. But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Wish I had tried the potato pancakes! I think sweet pierogi would also be a hit - my favorite is blueberry filled with a sweetened sour cream sauce. We would eat these sometimes as leftovers for breakfast growing up. I finally drove down from Lancaster to check out Granny Dee's. Well worth the trip. I ordered the Tour of Poland. It was great. It had a potato pancake, a stuffed cabbage, a kielbasa, a famous pierogi, kraut and the requisite mustard, sour cream & applesauce to enhance it all. Even had a tiny Polish flag!

This visit made this Polish girl far from her Chicago roots feel right at home. ❤️

Great decor. Super personable & knowledgeable server. I definitely will visit again.Highly recommend even if 30 minute trip.
