Update 3/6/24… Returned today for their Hurricane Chicken and this time horrible!!! Overcooked and dried like a mf!!! Also this time it was less chicken portion. This time they smashed a bed of rice underneath the chicken portion to give a false presentation of there being a lot of pieces. The rice underneath was mushy and old so I believe their technique of not wasting this bad batch of rice was to mask it by hiding it under the dish. Man this is a huge let down. The worst thing about a restaurant is not being “CONSISTENT”… So based on this experience and my first experience with the spoiled meat jhun, I give this place 2 stars. Please retrain the cooks or have the one cook that worked on 2/6/24 to properly train the cook that worked today on 3/6/24… The ONLY way someone can overcook fried chicken thighs is by forgetting about it. SMH….
Went here for the first time (2/6/24) and mixed reviews here. I originally wanted a mix of meat jun/hurricane chicken mix ALL MAC. They replied they don’t do combinations plates or and substitutions. Ok cool, I’ll buy 2 regular plates. I’m get home and try the meat jun and instantly I can taste it’s spoiled beef (been in the food industry for 18+years). You can taste when beef is old due to the sourness and turning of the flavor in meat, the Teri marinade couldn’t mask the spoiled beef in this case. I payed a lot for this extra plate which disappointed me from the start and discouraged me from even trying the other plate. Anyways I throw away the meat jun, savage the rice n Mac. Next the hurricane chicken… OMFG!!! Probably the best garlic/furikake type chicken I had in Vegas so far!!! Been in Vegas for 12 years and this dominates any other chicken dish I ever tried, probably even in Hawaii… well not Hawaii but def top 5 if compared to Hawaii garlic chicken. Anyways this dish seemed like a great marinated garlic chicken fried to “perfection”. Not overcooked/dry like majority of places. It’s then topped with their signature hurricane mix and Teri Mayo Aioli? Whatever it was it was not overpowering at all even though the appearance may look overwhelming. Every bite was damn near perfect!!! Solid 10/10. Their Mac salad was ok, nothing really stood out. In conclusion, despite not being able to mix a plate, substitute all mac/no rice, spoiled meat jun my review is saved based solely on their hurricane chicken dish! I’m being honest, it’s the best Hawaiian/garlic/furikake chicken in Vegas!!! I will return for this dish and def try their other dishes, no more meat jun from this place. HURRICANE CHICKEN!!!!...
Read moreI've visited this place twice in the past 2 weeks. That first time was on a Thursday during lunch time. It wasn't busy when we got there but got busier a few minutes later. We had to wait a bit for our food, around 15 to 20 minutes. My second visit was 2 days ago, a Wednesday, and it was better. We got our food in less than 10 minutes.
I'm pretty familiar with garlic chicken and furikake chicken, but Hurricane Chicken was new to me. I asked one of the staff about it. So, it's basically furikake chicken but with garlic aioli, unagi sauce, and arare for that extra crunch. It sounded good, so I gave it a shot, and it did not disappoint. There was just a little too much sauce. Still, I'd give it a solid 5 out 5!
I was thinking about getting the bowl, but I went for the plate instead, because I assumed the bowl would have a big portion of rice but only a few small pieces of chicken. But when I saw my friend's Furikake Chicken bowl, I was surprised. There was much more chicken than I expected. Considering the price, it seemed like a great deal. But it turned out, there wasn't enough rice for all that chicken. So, it was actually the other way around. lol.
I came back specifically to try their poke, but I was torn between that and the furikake chicken. Since they also do poke by the pound, I opted for furikake chicken bowl and got a quarter pound each of shoyu poke and spicy mayo poke. They were okay, not the best I've had. The furikake chicken was slightly salty, but overall, it was good. Both the hurricane chicken and furikake chicken were delish, but I like the hurricane chicken better.
Customer service was great. The place was clean and well-lit. This could easily become my go-to spot for lunch, especially since it's close to my workplace, and they offer good food at...
Read moreI’ve been here in Las Vegas for about 3yrs now. I’ve been on a quest to find places to eat that we consider “Just like home”. There have been hits n misses. The hits were close, but most times just ok. The misses were every L&L Hawaiian BBQ locations. It is a shame that they use “Hawaiian BBQ”. Their food sucks, big time, there is nothing on their menu that taste anything like Hawaii. I met a couple from Hawaii that recommended “Generations Kitchen”. It was a small kine journey to get there but OOOOOO so worth it. When you enter this place you can automatically smell home. I ordered a loco moco bowl and a Gen plate (Zip Pac). The loco was legit, the hamburger was fresh and the gravy was the best I’ve had here in Vegas. Plus came with mac salad that hit the spot. My wife had Hamburger steak bowl and a fried saimin, both were amazing. Hamburger steak with fried onions, mushroom ,mac salad gravy all over. I give it a 10, taste even better then some Hawaii drive ins. The fried saimin was perfect, so tasty and not overly sauced up. Again this place is LEGIT. You can tell because the cooks and wait help are local and not foreigners claiming to be Hawaiian BBQ, that sells frozen burgers with generic gravy. Generation Kitchen👍 L&L Hawaiian...
