This was a disappointing night coming to eat here. Understandably it's the day after New Years but several service-related factors made it difficult to enjoy our dining experience. Took my wife and family here for my wife's birthday.
The restaurant, upon entering immediately smelled heavily of old oil and frying grease. I noticed almost immediately as we were shown to our seats how dirty the floors were. The table next to had copious amounts of debris on the floor, and this was right after my son excitedly told the hostess that it was his mom's birthday and she said "We'll put you at a special table then!"
Took us longer than acceptable to receive our drinks. The waitress didn't know what anything was on the menu. The menu didn't have explanations for it's larger sushi combos so she repeatedly had to go and ask what they were. That didn't do her much good because apparently there's also a language barrier that prevents her from understanding the sushi chef.
About ten minutes after making our orders, we're told that they're behind (the restaurant was maybe half full) and it was going to take 40 minutes for our sushi orders. Only half our table ordered sushi so I instructed them to go ahead and bring the rest of the food when it was done, including our appetizers.
30 minutes in, no appetizers, my water was empty and I even ate all my ice. I inquired as to the status of the appetizers and other food, my waitress lied and said that another table who had supposedly arrived before us, were being served and that our food would be done soon. Then they brought one plate of sushi. The other sushi order, which was a boat was going to be considerably longer.
The appetizer arrived after 40 minutes, we didn't get any side plates to eat it with. Then, oddly the rest of the sushi arrived before the non-sushi food. When the non-sushi food arrived, my son's food was not among it. The waitress never wrote down his order, which was the first we made.
Sushi wasn't well made. I ordered the New York maki and a simple shrimp roll. They made excessive use of breadcrumbs, looked like my sushi had been snowed on. The rolls themselves didn't stick together very well. Trying to grip pieces with chopsticks, several immediately fell apart. My wife had sashimi and she had a similar problem. She was also displeased because the fish was warmer than it ought to be.
I also had to go to the front three times, for plates, soy sauce, the check and a to go box. Overall a very disappointing experience. We won't...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I have been a waitress in the past and also managed a restaurant. I know all too well how important tips are. There are times when our family eats out that we have 15-20 people with us. And trust me we tip better than the added gratuity some restaurants add. We believe in Tipping. In my years of restaurant business I have seen zero tip (not due to lack of good service) and I have seen some very generous tips but I served them all the same. My granddaughter and her boyfriend went into the restaurant tonight because she was really wanting Hibachi. Mind you she eats it quiet often because her Mom will even pick up drive through quiet often (and tip) most of the time they are with the family. They were approached and told if they ate there they would have to charge them extra because they didn’t tip last time they were there. And the lady proceeded to tell her where she sat. This has been months ago. She said pay more or get it to go! They added $2 to the bill. I have never heard of a restaurant doing such. Especially to teenagers. 1) they were using their money and they don’t have much 2) we have tipped generously everytime we dine in and drive through! My daughter called and spoke to someone and based on how the situation was handled we will not be back. And we will also share the experience with others as well. But then again maybe our whole family will go and tip $2! Shame on you Maneki! I think if 2 kids come in and miss tipping because they had enough for a meal and nothing more I would be thankful for the business because if you are slow enough you remember them that well you need...
Read morethis is my new favorite place to eat at. the food was of course great but what made it a 5 star restaurant is my waiter Tosh. She is an absolutely stunning waiter, nice, friendly, kind, sweet, welcoming, and makes you feel completely at home!! She was absolutely stunning and flawless. She made sure our drinks were filled to the top with frequent check ups, and she had our drinks at our table before we even got done looking at the menu, and the waiting time was not long at all, the quickest I have ever gotten my food at any food place ever. We also got a beef and onion soup on the house right away! Tosh was really really nice and she complimented me a lot and I was about to cry from how nice she was. She was the best waiter I can ever have, and I will always remember my first time here just because of her. I wish I could have tipped her a million dollars because she deserves so much more than being a waiter. There was another waiter there too named Berry and she was a great waiter also, and she deserves some love and appreciation, but my time with Tosh was unbelievably incredible, im utterly astonished. Thank you guys so much, Best Time...
