UPDATE: My family and I decided to stop here again for brunch; our initial visit was during dinner hours. The experience was phenomenal as expected! We ordered the Zip Pac Deluxe, Portuguese Sausage Omelette, Zip Min, Side Order of Portuguese Sausage, Dobash Cake, Chantilly Cake, Apple Napple, and Glazed Mochizada - I've attached new pictures from this visit. The food was outstanding and our server, Marites, did a superb job - very fast, efficient, attentive, and most of all, friendly employee!! 🤙 My family and I got to finally visit this new Las Vegas Zippy's and I'm glad we did because this restaurant did not disappoint. Growing up on the islands, I had the luxury of eating at Zippy's so many times - I can always remember having the chili with hot dog and fried chicken, along with the infamous Zip Pac. Aside from this restaurant not actually being in Hawaii, I still had a tremendous feeling of nostalgia coming here.

When we pulled into the parking lot, I was amazed at how many cars there were - majority of the parking spots were filled to include some folks parking in the dirt field across the street. When we walked in, you immediately had the feeling of Aloha, minus the island temperature and humidity. Also, seeing all the assorted pastries right as you walk in, definitely reminded me of Napoleon's Bakery back home.

The host on duty was very friendly as he took our name down. The wait time was ~30-45 minutes which considering the amount of people waiting in the lobby to be seated, along with the amount of folks waiting in the to-go line, compared to the amount of employees, I thought the wait time was accurate. And to tell you the truth, I would've waited even if the wait time was about 1-2 hours because it was our goal to eat here while our daughter was in town for her holiday break.

When we finally got seated, our primary server, Jackie, immediately took our drink orders, followed by taking down our food orders after our drinks arrived. Jackie did a phenomenal job with us; she was very attentive, friendly, professional, and moved very swiftly. She answered all questions and followed-thru with all my requests in a timely manner (extra napkin requests, etc.). My family ordered the following:

ENTREE: Portuguese Bean Soup, Korean Fried Chicken, Zip Pac Deluxe, Surf Pac Deluxe, and Saimin. DESSERT: Apple Napple, Malasada, and Apple Pie. DRINKS: Fruit Punch and Lilikoi Juice.

Everything was scrumptious and tasted just like I remembered. The saimin wasn't exactly what I had at my local "Shiro's Saimin Haven" in Aiea, but the flavor was still outstanding. This was actually the first time eating a Zip Pac in a Zippy's dining area because I normally get those to-go...so eating it on an actual plate instead of a bento-style box just felt weird to me but the flavor was still the same (obviously).

Overall, my family and I enjoyed this restaurant. One of the biggest downfalls is that they built this restaurant way too far from our house (we live in the far Northwest part of Las Vegas). But I guess it's a good thing because I'd probably eat here multiple times per week. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable - I highly recommend this restaurant to...

My wife and I had our first visit here today. We went about 11am on New Year's Day and only had to wait about 20 minutes. It was very busy on both the dine-in and the take-out side.

We had a wonderful server named CJ, who was extremely polite and answered all of our first timer question about the menu.

My wife has a gluten allergy, so she had to be extremely selective on her choices. Customizing what you are served (like if you say, can I get 3 scoops of rice and no macaroni salad, instead of 2 rice and 1 macaroni -- this was not accommodated). Based on experience to date, there are very limited gluten free items, and that's if you modify what you find or just don't eat some of what is served.

My wife ordered the frank and chili. At first glance, it looked pretty good. It was well presented. I took the macaroni salad from my wife, and it was delicious. She said the frank was 'above standard' and was very tasty (She can be very picky about her hot dogs). The chili on first taste was a let down. It seriously tasted like Hormel from a can, without beans. There was no discernable meat in it. Additionally, the chili was not even warm.

I ordered a sampler or sorts: 2 eggs, Portuguese sausage, and 3 pieces of the Korean fried chicken (Teriyaki glazed). I of course also got 2 scoops of rice with it (can't remember if my plate had mac salad too). The chicken was FANTASTIC. A wonderful crunch and the teriyaki flavor was exceptional. The eggs were requested over-medium and were overcooked. The macaroni salad, as I said before was fantastic. While I'm not a big rice eater, the sauce from the chicken, that bled into the rice made the rice amazing.

We mentioned our experience to CJ with regard to all of these things. He apologized and offered to make it right. He got my wife some chili that was hot, and it tasted a LOT more like good homemade chili. I was full so passed on his offer to replace my food (no discounts were offered up for these issues, and no manager stopped by, no we didn't ask).

Overall, the food issues were just a matter of details that whomever reviews the plates should be aware of and correct. So we give them a solid 4, with room for improvement on the little things.

The atmosphere was very nice. Hawaiian music playing, everyone seemed to be having a good time. I gave a 4 for the atmosphere because it was freezing in there. Very drafty and probably around 67-69 degrees was how it felt.

The only cleanliness issue I noted was with the soy sauce bottle on the table. It would appear these lids aren't removed and cleaned on a daily basis.

Overall,...

Unfortunately I still haven't been to Hawaii. I will make it there someday. I watched the original Hawaii 5 O with my Dad back in the 70's , it was his favorite TV show and it ran for 12 years ! I also grew up watching Magnum P.I. in the 80's and always thought how beautiful it is. Let's not forget the movie reruns of Elvis in Hawaii. I watched all of those too.

I have had Hawaiian Food on a few occasions , but have never had Zippy's. One of my coworkers lived there and his son works at this location. He told me all about it and I went to check it out today hoping it wouldn't be as busy as it was when it first opened. The parking lot was almost full , but I found a spot right away. Since I was by myself , I sat at the bar instead of the dining room since there was a wait.

I was greeted right away , sat at the bar , and she cleaned it. I told her it was my first time and I think it was a manager that heard me and he made a suggestion. She was very very nice and checked on me several times during the meal. Service here is top notch ! It was great sitting at the bar so I could see a lot of the items that the wait staff were picking up at the service window. I saw some big bowls of soup that I know my son would love when I bring him and my daughter in law next time.

I got the Surf Pac which included Spam , 2 pieces of Fried Chicken , 2 pieces of Teriyaki Sliced Beef , and Rice. It was suggested to me to get the Zip Pac Deluxe , but I figured I wouldn't be able to finish all that today , so I will probably get that one next time so I can try the Fried Fish , Chili , and Macaroni Salad. I want to try the Korean Bbq also. That is why you bring the family with you , so you can get different dishes and try each others stuff right.

Everything was good and I especially liked the Fried Chicken. I put a little Tabasco on it , but it was cooked perfectly. I read other reviews saying theirs were dry , but not mine. The Spam was good , but not great. I really like Spam too. I make a rice dish with Jalapeno Spam that will knock your socks off ! The Teriyaki Beef was good , but I think I would like it a little thicker. The rice was good also and fluffy. I didn't get any deserts , but I did look at the selection and will give them a try next time or get some to take home. I would definitely recommend. It is better than the other Hawaiian restaurants I've been to here in Las Vegas. Now if I can just get on that plane to Hawaii and dance some Hula with some...
