UPDATE: The appropriate action was taken and I have returned several times since the incident and have nothing but great things to say. Thank you to all the staff that stepped up and continue the great food and service I have come to know. I respect the ownership that was taken and how the situation was handled, all with flying colors. Thank you!
I RARELY write a review, even when a restaurant makes a mistake. BUT THIS was on a level of outright horrific. My feta cheese was SCRAPED FROM A USED EATEN PLATE OF ANOTHER CUSTOMER AND PUT IN A CUP FOR ME TO EAT!!! Not only is it disgusting, but from a health concern, gross lack of cleanliness, cross contamination and other repulsive reasons, I was horrified to find, pieces of bacon, parsley, green pepper and cheddar cheese amongst the sad looking feta, which had a yellow tint. Add to that the fact that I am a VEGETARIAN and the thought of bacon is vile, let alone from SOMEONE ELSE’S PLATE and the meat meal they ate. I barely have words! It is soooooo unsanitary and disgusting. I mentioned it to the waitress twice. I want to thank her for confirming my horror when I spelled out my concerns and thoughts. She “talked” to whomever in the kitchen and was told that “it’s ok, it’s only scraped from the top of this other eaten meal”. I think she should have handled it better and not only replaced it, but also mentioned it to a manager. I had to do that myself when I was leaving. And I want to mention it’s not her fault, she shouldn’t have to take the blame for the wrongdoings of back of house.. The manager said not to worry about the bill, apologized and said “it will not happen again”. While I appreciate the gesture, it’s not about the cost of the meal, this is a whole other level of issue. I go here several times a month and have done so for years, this has me rather concerned about food standards, quality and safety. I am sorry I have to write this, but this is...
Read moreOn our yearly visit with the grandbabies we stopped in for breakfast after a morning at Gilcrease Orchard. Early morning start, couple of hours walking and exploring, picking apples and pumpkins definitely built up a good appetite.
Although busy, we (4) only waited maybe 3 minutes to be seated. We were given our menus as soon as we were seated, but it took a while before the waitress was able to take our order... again, it was busy. She did come over to take our drink orders and brought it to our table. But we waited for a while before she was able to take our orders. By the time she took our order, the table (6 persons) next to us had been seated, and I'm assuming they already knew what they wanted and placed an order fairly quickly after we did. They got their order before ours. And we waited for about 15 mins when our waitress came over and gave us 2 banana muffins because our order was taking a long time. By then, our grand kids were getting restless and, of course, hungry. Thank goodness for the train above us that kept them busy and netflix to help keep them distracted. The food came about 15 minutes later.
So, the wait time for the actual meal was long. Our order consisted of a fruit plate, Hawaii local eggs, portuguese sausage and rice, and a kids chicken fingers with fries. We shared our plates with our other grandbaby. The food was delicious. Maybe a bit more check-ins from the server would have been appreciated. But grateful for the banana muffins.
We did visit another Egg Works on another day, and that was a...
Read moreI'm from out of town. We went here on a Sunday. I'm disabled and have a small service dog. When the hostess saw him she told us we would have to sit on the patio since I have my dog. I told her he was a service dog and showed her his tag. She then proceeded to ask me what I needed him for and not politely AT ALL!! The whole interaction was very hostile on her end and it really upset me. I did correct myself on the laws cause I didn't think it was legal to ask what the dog is needed for. Once they finally decided to take us to our table, another person came up to me and told me he had to be under the table on the ground. My dog is small and always sits in my lap with no issues. It's never been a problem ANYWHERE ELSE! She then insisted that he did go on the ground and by then I was so worked up I started to cry. By then I had enough and told my dad and my ALSO DISABLED sister that we were leaving! I was NOT going to stay and attempt to eat in a place that made my feel so unwanted. I don't go out of my house very often! I have PTSD which is why I have him. This experience was triggering and one of the main reasons I have him so I can get out. My only point to this post is to say that COMPASSION AND EMPATHY can go a long way when working in the service industry. Maybe brush up on that so you're not offending your customers. Needless to say NONE of my family or friends will be going back...
