Biggest disappointment in Erie. We ordered: Coffee, a soda, pizza log appetizer, a fish sandwich w/side of fries, and a ravioli dinner. To start off with, we came in approximately 11:30am and didn't get our food until about 12:40pm. There was only one poor waitress dealing with the entire lunch rush. I would estimate she had no less than 15 tables to deal with at once. That's ridiculous in itself. Our appetizer arrived with the meal, which defeats the purpose of an appetizer. Also, the menu picture showed 8 pizza rolls, we received 4. The ravioli dinner consisted of frozen ravioli that was overcooked and watery. The salad that should have been included never arrived and we had to ask for it to be packed to go. The garlic bread (that cost extra) was only one piece. When we inquired about this, we were informed there should have been 2 pieces, but one was burnt and had to be remade. It arrived as we were finishing our meals. Had we not asked, I'm sure we wouldn't have gotten the salad or the rest of the garlic bread. We asked for sausage instead of meatballs w/ the ravioli and ordered an extra link as well. Apprently, a link here consists of 1/2 of an actual link which is then cut in half again. My fish sandwich was one tiny fish filet that on a huge bun. The "filet" literally only took up 1/3 of the bun. It was the most embarrassing sandwich I've ever seen. The side of fries was about 1 handful, cost $2.49 extra, and was considered "large." The total for this ridiculous experience cost us $30.86 before the tip. We could have gone to a myriad other restaurants in the area and spent less money and left satisfied. It's been a long time since I've felt that I completely wasted money on an establishment. I would suggest that before eating at this particular diner, you either go elsewhere or take your money and either flush it down the toilet or throw it in the street. My disappointment is great enough that I have no desire to even give this establishment a second chance. It would appear to me the owners are trying to cut costs by serving sub-par food and not properly staffing...
Read moreDisappointed, but willing to try again. I grew up in Millcreek and never tried Dominick's before my career took me away from Erie. Now that I moved back it's a place I was eager to visit. I was happy with the service. My server was friendly and attentive. Naturally, I tried the meatball omelet. I can't complain about the dish in terms of quality or price. The meatballs and sauce were good. It's just not a combination that works for me. I would rather just have spaghetti, but it works for them and that's all that matters. It's a dish that brings people in. I should also mention that I had a tried side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were OK, but the gravy had to be out of a can and was not good at all. It definitely didn't taste good or homemade.
I saw people in the back of the dining room had a pizza box. I decided to give Dominick's pizza a try, and ordered a large pizza to go. A peace offering for the wife after being out drinking beers at Lavery's. When I got home and opened the box there was at least a 2 1/2" to 3" gap all the way around the crust with no sauce or cheese. It looked ridiculously naked, and I believe I paid over $12.99 for this. In all of my years of eating pizza in Erie (which I do love the locals) I have never seen a place purposely avoid putting sauce and cheese so far from the edge of the crust. The pizza itself was a little under-baked as well, which I can forgive, but the shortage of sauce and cheese was bad. The good news it should be an easy fix for Dominick's. Cover the pizza better.
I will try them again, but definitely order something different. Either a regular omelet or Italian entree. The pictures of the gnocchi look good. I think they can do breakfast just fine but need to fix that gravy. Anyone that defends it has never had good...
Read moreI went to Dominick's for lunch today. I have never eaten here before. I had the worst service. First I got my salad and the ranch was separated and tasted funny. Then I got my meatloaf and gravy. The potatoes tasted like instant. I thought this a homemade restaurant. The meatloaf wasn't that good either. It tasted like it was all bread crumbs and like dog food. The waitress dropped off the food and didn't say anything. I had to get up and get ketchup for my husband's French fries. Then both of them were sitting down at a customer's table for a long time and never asked us if we're OK so I got up and told her that I didn't like the meatloaf and she said I still had to pay for it. I said I wasn't going to. She finally give me the bill and only charged for my husband's food. So she fixe the problem at the end but I will never go back...
