High quality food and drink at a reasonable price. Most of the food could be considered casual bar food, such as burgers, pizza, and poutines (French fries with brown sauce [gravy] and cheese curds), but with an upscale flair. Full fledged entrees/dinners are available, and the menu changes regularly to keep up with seasonal freshness. For those partaking in adult beverages, there is an ample selection of wines and beers (many from local wineries and breweries) and well crafted mixed drinks.
Metered parking (in effect weekdays till six) is available, as is a pay-parking garage into which Cloud 9 is conveniently built. Located on the South West corner of French and East 10th, Cloud 9 is easily visible when driving South bound on French, but is slightly hidden when traveling East on 10th.
Cloud 9 is open for lunch, dinner, and many holidays. Check for hours and availability. Happy Hour seven days a week with specials on certain food and drink items. While reservations are typically not required, seating quickly becomes limited on nights of special events downtown, and it is not unusual that walk-in guests may be turned away on especially busy nights (best to call ahead). While the staff is quick, friendly and attentive, during peak hours and special events, one should expect to be patient, as it is not unusual on these nights to spend an hour or two with your meal (though most visits will be around or less than an hour). This is not a fast-food restaurant; it is a dining experience to savor and enjoy.
There is no dress code, and everyone from suit-and-tie business meetings to bikers fresh off a ride are welcome. Summer months are exceptional for outdoor seating, and well behaved dogs are welcome on the patio. The restaurant is non-smoking, but smoking on the patio...
Read moreWe were immediately seated which was nice, then, we waited a half hour before any one came to serve us and it was, I believe, a manager. She asked if we had been seen. I replied no. A few minutes later a young man came out and took our drink orders, and apps. My drink came to me and it was incorrect. Not the wrong drink but not made with the ingrediants in the menu. It was supposed to be heavy cream, kaluha and tequila, shaken over ice. It was instead milk and tequila. I sent it back as kindly as it could and the bartender snatched it from the waiters hand as I was talking to him. She added kaluha and brought it back. Still not made with heavy cream, but liveable. We then got our apps after being seated for a full hour, then after one bite of our apps, we got our entres. The food was decent. The brie crusted with pistachios was decent, but not high quality brie by any means and the pistachio crust was a bit greasy. The bread was generic Italian, vs a nice French sour dough baggette. My vegie tacos were ok, undercooked veggies sat in soft, flour tortillas. The tortillas were not warm and were half filled. The cauliflower and squash were undercooked. The corn salsa needed salt and other seasoning. The food was decent but by no means worth the price. I could've prepared a higher quality meal at home with ingredients from Wegmans. If you want to eat high quality food with balanced flavors for a similiar price, go to the Cork. You'll get better...
Read moreFood was very good, however, after our large group's bills were processed, we came to find out that our waiter doctored not one, but TWO of our receipts and added a tip to the card when a cash tip was rendered instead. Caused quite a bit of headache when we needed to submit our receipts to our company with different totals on our personal copies than what the waiter added in on his own accord. (To be clear, he falsified some receipts to add a tip when there was none since some of us gave him cash.)
Due to this, we will not be returning nor will we be recommending this restaurant to others.
I hope the restaurant is able to recognize and remediate this situation as we did enjoy the meal. Best of luck to them!
Edit to owner: You DID hear from one of our persons affected and refused to believe that the error was on your employee (- a fair assumption for a manager to defend their employee, I do not fault you for that. ) The second person decided to not reach out due to the lack of intervention in the first case - they just handled it privately when they submitted their copy of the differing receipt for review. As I was not personally affected (I DID in fact leave a tip on my card, not a cash tip), I will not be involving myself further. I hope you are able to resolve the situation.
Again,...
