So, haven't been in downtown Erie for quite awhile. My friend was celebrating a milestone birthday so we decided to give this place a try, we had both heard good things. Got my car parked (yes, I can parallel park) and headed in. The entrance was unassuming and decorated well. The back wall of the waiting area has a full bookcase so it looks like there is nothing more to the place. Then voila, you enter a cozy bar / restaurant area complete with tables and couches. The ambience is what got me, I could really see a bunch of people hanging out, dancing and having fun. The waiter came over and I started the evening with a Toasted Carmel Martini, all I can say is it was delicious. They had a wide range of specialty cocktails on the menu with catchy, theme-oriented names, wine, beer and your usual assortment of liquors. Started with a traditional charcuterie board of meats and cheese. They also have a wild game option which may be fun to try. The board came out, it was beautifully presented with pepperoni, prosciutto, smaller breads, goat cheese, champagne cheese, mustard and a fig jelly. Every thing looked and tasted great (I wish I would have snapped a pic). Onto the main course, I went with the rack of lamb and my friend had the salmon. Both came out and each plate looked great. The lamb was leaning against a few polenta cakes with grilled asparagus. The sauce had fresh mint that enhanced the flavor of the meat, but didn't overpower it. The one minor and I really mean minor, the lamb was a smidge over cooked but tasted great. The salmon was also plated beautifully with a nice sized piece of salmon, with rice, asparagus and a tasty watermelon salsa. You you read it right, watermelon salsa. Sounds different but it worked. Finished the night with desert to take home, but we had to try it before we left. I got a berry tiramasu cake which was flavorful and light. Fresh berries were used. My friend got a Reesee's peanut butter cup brownie / cake. Holy crow, if you like Reesee's get this dessert. Overall the waiter was fantastic, checked in but wasn't a pest, food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner and he knew the menu and could make recommendations without hesitation. But the best part was the bill. You would think a meal like this would be crazy expensive but nope, you get great food at a great price. Will definitely be going back or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife made reservations for my birthday here yesterday June 28th apparently she thought I would like it. She was absolutely incorrect I HATE jazz itās not my bag at all. So after entering I was already VERY uncomfortable (at no fault to the establishment) the waitress came over greeted us and sat us I asked about the music she said a jazz band was playing after she walked away I told my wife I was leaving and not staying because itās not my scene (what happened next is the ONLY reason for this review) let me start by saying this place was clean and at first very friendly Iām sure jazz fans would have had a great time however in our way out because again not my scene (even left a tip as a sorry for wasting your time) I heard the waitress point out to a few people sitting at the bar ālook haha they must be broke to eat hereā to which the others patrons started laughing which enraged me but I decided to just leave without making things worse this is the only reason I am writing this review hopefully the owners will see it and address it btw this was yesterday June 28th at 6pm other then this the menu didnāt look bad the prices werenāt horrible and it seemed like a very clean place itās not there fault I donāt like jazz music at all thatās my own problem but the waitress didnāt need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited on a Saturday night. Sign said walk in through open door. Would have liked to be directed to walk through the bookcase door for charm. Place had maybe 16 people in it. Nice decor. Talented solo Musician playing on stage but sound was loud and took away from the ambience. Service was attentive and quick. Drinks were pretty great. Watermelon margarita 10/10, Goodfellas 10/10, Capone and pineapple mojito just ok. The food was really disappointing. Tzatziki bruschetta with prosciutto 0/10; bread was not crisped, tzatziki was not flavourful and simply looked like runny gob of white, topped with very dry prosciutto that seemed to have been cut days ago. Charcuterie board w/traditional meats cheeses was a miss 1/10; 1 star cause portion was more than decent for price. The meat (salami, pepperoni {never had this on a charc. board}, prosciutto {again tasted old} was cut thick, goat cheese {ok}, 2 other cheeses but one infused with horseradish {odd tasting} and each food had a weird after taste. Come for the drinks but food...
