Matera Grill — Restaurant in Escanaba

On our first visit to Escanaba, this restaurant was at our lodging. Since it’s getting late, we opted to stay here and eat. What a pleasant surprise! The rolls and butter were delicious as was the Caesar salad, although a bit heavy on the dressing and croutons. It was huge! Hubby got a nice little filet with mashed potatoes and I got the garlic butter halibut and grilled asparagus (a bit underdone, but fresh and crispy) We were both very happy with our meals. And fast!!! Drinks, bread, salad, meal…boom boom boom. We may need to visit again to try the Italian...

We visited the restaurant on Friday October 2, 2025 and the waiter/bartender Dominick was amazing, he was very busy, but had a smile on his face the entire time and service was great! We also had a great dinner on Friday, October 3, 2025 and the waitress Alexa was amazing as well, great service with a smile!! One of the Chefs even came out and asked us how our meal was!! If in Escanaba, Michigan, I highly recommend this restaurant; which is also attached to the Magnuson Grand Pioneer Inn and Suites!!

Worth the Visit. Great food. We got Meatball Pizza, Shrimp Alfredo, Chicken Marsala, Tiramisu, And crème Brûlée. Everything seemed very fresh and tasted awesome. Filled up my party’s bellies. Great staff. Saw plenty of friendly, hardworking employees. Our server was awesome. Great atmosphere. A tad bit small feeling but comfortable overall. The men’s restroom for the hotel had a broken door...
