I have been a cook in the industry for sixteen years, I have worked at country clubs and other vastly prestigious restaurants in the Pacific Northwest, I worked here for a couple months as a cook because it was a hop skip and jump away from my house and it was a mental break seeing as how monkeys could make this grotesque menu. I can tell you first hand that the food is gross, barely edible, I wouldn't even take home my free meal. You are eating in a place where the kitchen crew is very under staffed and overworked, not to mention underpaid and unappreciated. Every single paycheck since I had started was wrong and they tried to dick me around several times, promising raises and then the day the raise was supposed to start, Randy, an absolutely horrible manipulative general manager told me after telling me for a month that I would be getting that raise told me the day it was supposed to start that she could hire someone off the street to do my job for two dollars less an hour. I finally had enough, it is clear no one who runs, manages, or owns this Applebees considers their employees at all. Behind the scenes it is just a fast food atmosphere, 90 percent of the food is microwaved. Just for the love of your fellow man don't support this establishment. Also I do not participate in this logic, but many cooks do dirty things to your food when they are treated like they work in a...
Read moreWe walked in for late lunch, waited to be seated, seated at a dirty table, with sticky chairs, our server complained the whole time about everything that was going on in house. he ice tea was disgusting, overbrewed or old. I ordered clam chowder soup and she said, that will cost extra, with a tone like, you can't afford that soup. She was very frazzled and I felt for her. The restaurant didn't appear busy with maybe 6 tables with couples in there and it looked like 2 servers for lunch. My soup came cold. I told her and she said she would get me a new one and make sure it's heated properly. The soup came a little warmer but still not hot. I stuck my whole finger in there to show her that it wasn't hot. She got really upset and grumbled a bunch of complaints, saying that she cooked it in the microwave herself. She seemed extremely upset and very unhappy. She said that the manager knows about the situation andand she comped the soup because of the trouble we were having. I asked her if I could see the manager and she said, he will just say what I've said. I was impressed with the manager he was very nice and he did what he could to accommodate the situation and apologized. He gave us a 10% + comped the soup. I appreciate that he was polite and calm and really did what he could to make...
Read moreJust want to share an experience with the Applebees on West 11th in Eugene. Last Thursday we ordered delivery from this restaurant for Friday evening. Due to Covid-19 in our home, we had left instructions in the order to “knock/ring bell and leave order on bench outside our door”. We observed the Doordash delivery person come to our door, but he just left the meals at the door, no knock-no ring! We watched him leave, gathered the bag, and quickly became aware that the delivery was not only wrong, but was actually from the Wendy’s across 11th from Applebees… and having opened the bag we checked that order and found it to be incomplete… so two failures by the Doordash dude! However, here’s the good part, I immediately called the Applebees, explained the problem, and was politely and quickly connected to the manager. She immediately offered to cancel the previous order from our CC, and to place a new order, or (as we needed) to cancel the order and issue a refund to the CC. Super customer service! She did as we asked, and the charge was removed from the CC very quickly! So, Applebees gets a 10, and will see us soon in person for a family gathering… and Abdulkadar from...
