Dos Hermanos Taqueria — Restaurant in Eugene

Decent food. We have been visiting this location for a few years. We have had great service and sometimes "off" service, but we understand that everyone has bad days. Last time we went, we went in the evening and it was pretty busy. We were seated by a waitress who has waited on us many times. The previous time before this visit, she was friendly and seemed to be having a good day. On this particular evening, she was clearly not happy. She took our order and I ordered queso cheese. So, when it came out, our chips were already almost gone. We sat for quite some time before she came back to check on us because our food had already come out from the kitchen and was dropped off by another server. When our waitress came back to check on us, my husband asked for more chips and salsa. He also asked for 2 baskets (which we are always willing to pay for) but she said "No, I can't do that. I'll bring you one basket and come back and check on you. The reason we asked for 2 baskets was because she hadn't been coming back to check in, which we understood because it was busy. So, my husband asked for a refill as well. She walked away and my husband just looked at me in disbelief. So, she comes back with a basket of chips and no refill on his drink. After about 5 minutes or so, she walks over, drops a basket of chips on the table (aggressively), then walks off. We were SO confused as to why she was acting this way. Then, a different girl came to give my husband his refill. She also came to check up on us again and bring us out ticket. My husband asked if we did something or said something to offend her because of how blatantly rude she was being. The girl just apologized and thanked us for coming in. Saturday November 13th I went with my partner to get some food. We are regulars here even though the flavor has seemed hit and miss lately.

Saturday night they had two kids working the window(in their twenties maybe, maybe younger). The boy proceeded to repeat our order back to us wrong and needed it repeated a few times, even after we were at the drive through window we still had to correct him twice. One of those was about a vegetarian burrito with no dairy. Turns out whoever made it thought that meant no sour cream but cheese is okay. So he tells them no cheese and we wait for our order. When it arrives I open my burrito to check it and there’s a few pieces of cheese on the inside like maybe they tried scraping it off and covering it up with the guacamole.

I send it back ask them to remake it. Suddenly a young girl rushes the window and starts fighting with us about how there’s no cheese on the burrito. With her phone in hand she repeatedly waves it at us with some obscure picture she took of the inside of the burrito saying, “There is no cheese on here!” as if that somehow changes what we both saw before sending it back. She then tells us we can either take a refund or order something else because if they remake it it will be the same thing it already is.

I don’t know if the owner is proud of incompetent employees or if they just overwork and underpay their employees to the point that they care nothing about customer service but this whole interaction was totally disgusting and...

I bought a fountain drink for $4.50 with my cash app card. The next day I get a notification that my card was run for $4.50 plus a tip and that the new total was $7.00. So I call them and they apologize and I come in to get the money to the $2.50 that was mistakenly charged to my card and the kid at the counter shows me a debit card receipt where someone had written in a $2.50 tip! I'm all for tipping 20% as I worked in the bar and restaurant business for 15 years where I survived on tips. But this was something different. I didn't accidentally write in a $2.50 tip on a $4.50 drink... This was credit card fraud, plain and simple and the idiot who tried skimming my cash app card didn't realize that it notifies me via text message/email of every transaction. So, if you sing something, XXX out the tip/total box. If you pay with a card be sure to double check you statement because some people don't see their transaction history till the end of the month and some people disregard such small transactions or don't balance their check book anymore by comparing reciepts to transaction history. Rivas was a dive, but at least they weren't running a scam or breaking the law. Everyone at Dos Hermanos played dumb about this incident, but like I daid, I've managed bars and restaurants for years and never had a customer complain about gratuity being added without their knowledge or permission.
