Good food, but I had a poor server. Ordered spring rolls, she brought me fried ones. My water glass remained empty despite repeated times passing my table. After she brought the correct rolls and left, I finally asked for a refill of my water glass.
When she brought the correct rolls, I asked for a side of fish sauce. She seemed confused by my request. I asked if they had a carousel with various chilis and oils. She then seemed to understand request, said they did have that and would be right back with it.
Over the next five minutes she passed my table several times, going to other tables. She then brought my main to the table and moved off quickly. I'd ordered tofu, it was topped with chicken. Next time she was coming by, I pointed out I'd asked for tofu. She checked the ticket and said, "That's my bad", took my dish back to the kitchen. I also asked about the carousel that she'd said she was going to bring at least five minutes before. When she brought it, she asked if I'd meant thai chilis in fish sauce earlier. I said yes, that's what I'd been asking about so she did bring that.
When my main dish did arrive with the tofu, that was good. My issue was that the server seemed unfocused and made several mistakes.
For context:
There are parties at several other tables but it was not busy. My spouse is an experienced server; this was the kind of service that she is often critical about when we dine out together.
Maybe the server was new. If so, some slack. Nonetheless, check your orders BEFORE you bring them to the table. Scan tables as you walk by. If you see a water glass needs filling, remember to come back and fill it. If you say you have a condiment and that you're going to bring it right back AND there's no crisis (spilled tray or dishes, water,...

My girlfriend and I were served wontons that had totally raw chicken in them. It basically looked like seared ahi tuna. Unfortunately, I had already swallowed about 80% of one and my girlfriend half of one. I brought it to the waitress's attention, and then told her I wasn't hungry anymore. She replied by saying she was very sorry and that she would give us an appetizer of our choice to make up for the problem. I was totally disgusted (and not hungry anymore), but I let my girlfriend and the waitress convince me that dinner along with a new appetizer would make up for it. Coupled with that and the fact that this has been my favorite restaurant in eugene for the last three years, I went for it.
Long story short- we got the fried spring rolls as the replacement appetizer, and then tried to enjoy our dinner (pumpkin curry and a #82). When we got the check the appetizer was still on the bill. I called them on it, but they wouldn't even stand behind what they had said 30 minutes earlier. They wanted full price. To top it, our dinner's were the worst we had ever had (chicken while cooked this time had a hotdog texture and consistency accompanied with blah or bland seasoning) which totally contradicts my previous review of "awesome- best restaurant in eugene".
Personally, if I endangered someones health I would comp their entire meal. This place won't even give you an appetizer which shows how much they care about their customer. After this experience, I will not be returning or recommending Tararin to...
Read moreWent here with my wife after hearing how great it was by our Korean friends. We've been sold out Sabai fans since we first tried them 2 years ago. We drove up, a little skeptical by the location. Inside is actually very nice and was actually quite busy for a Monday afternoon but we received a booth immediately. The staff was very positive and quick. Their menu has a fair bit more options than Sabai and their lunch special pricing was nearly identical. My wife decided to try one of her favorites, Pad Ke Mao and I decided to try something Sabai did not offer, Chow Min with shrimp. We received good sized portions within 10 minutes. The Pad Ke Mao was almost on part with Sabai's. It was only slightly less flavorful but also wasn't nearly as spicy as Sabai. The Chow Min was phenomenal. The egg noodles used reminded me of top notch Ramen noodles. I ordered it with medium spice but really didn't notice much heat. My only gripe would be that I like my shrimp with a little crunch and this seemed a little mushy. Overall, we were pleased with the service and flavor. One complaint we've had with Sabai is their level spice is very in consistent, to the point we've received some dishes we just couldn't eat. We're looking forward to see if Ta Ra Rin is better with that. I highly...
