Our experience at the new Elmer’s Restaurant in Eugene, OR (Grand Opening @ River Valley Mall) On May 14th we got to the restaurant at 3:00pm we were greeted with a smile by the hostess we asked if we could sit at a certain table... she replied that the section was closed we said ok and she sat us in the opened section then she asked if we were there celebrating any special occasion... I replied 'Yes' its my 57th birthday and I wanted to come to my favorite restaurant Elmer's, and that I had gone to the Springfield location for years and this was my friends first time at Elmer’s... she looked at me and said 'O' and then walked away, perhaps she could have at least said happy birthday. The waitress came to our table and took your order at 3:15... I ordered a burger and my dear friend that had never been to a Elmer's ordered the Prime Rib, the waitress came back at 3:25 and said Prime Rib is not served until 4:00 pm, we said OK and he reorder the 'Chicken Fried Steak' at 3:35 I got my salad after I reminded her to bring it... and we finally got your drinks also... Our waitress must have said SORRY to us at least 20 times. She also sated she had just got to work and things were not going well for her... so we did not complain... I could already hear the table behind us complaining... perhaps she was having a rough day and we did not want to make it worse. We got your food at 3:45... by burger was 'horrible' the bun was so dry the burger fell apart in my hands like it was under the heat lamps to long… the fries were soggy and cool. My friends Chicken Fried Steak was 'horrible' I asked for a taste... yuck... a ‘’‘very salty’’’ and pasty gravy. We both ate some of our meals and then looked at each other and said lets just leave... so much for finishing our meals and getting a birthday desert. I was so disappointed I encouraged my friend to try Elmer’s for his first time and bring me here for my 57th birthday... I do not want to give up on Elmer's I have been a Springfield location customer for years... I think compensation is in...
Read moreTodays food was a complete opposite to my last review. I believe there was about 14 of us at this meetup Breakfast event. All of us were pleased & our server was a doll. She made the already wonderful food, even more wonderful with her Sunshiny self!
Goodish food, $71.00 for 5 people to have breakfast, that's without a tip. I tipped $14.00 to our server, who is identified as David B., because he was a GREAT server. The Gentleman dining with us, who ordered the Skillet, described his meal, as flavored gravel, due to everything in the skillet, being so overly cooked, that it had the consistency of gravel. I looked at his hashbrowns, within his skillet & they were in fact, burnt to a crisp. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes meal, per the Lady dining with us, was good, a bit heavy & a bit too sweet. The avocado omelette meal, per the other lady dining with us was good. The Chicken fried steak, per the 2nd Gentleman dining wth us was ok. I myself, ordered the Tillamook potato pancake meal, which came with, bacon, eggs, sour cream & applesauce. The 1/4 teaspoon of sour cream, that came with my 2 huge potato pancakes, was a ridiculously tiny amount, causing me to have to get our server, to bring me an amount equal to the amount of applesauce it came with, which is how it should have been created, in the first place. David was quick & gracious in bringing me more sour cream. The potato pancakes were delicious. All in all, our food averaged out, between the 5 of us, as ok, but nothing to yell from the rooftops for, especially for that amount of money. Kudos to David B. our server, as HE was the best part...
Read moreI want to start this review with the food was amazing in quality, quantity, and price. The atmosphere was very good and clean, even with it being a sports bar and family themed restaurant. The reason for the two stars was due to the service me and my queer partner received. When we walked in we waiting at the counter for a solid 2-3 minutes before seeing anyone show up to the desk. She in a very monotone voice asked us how many we had and sat us down. She walked away and came back 2 minutes later asking about drinks and seemed irritated that we didn’t see a drink section on the menu. She took our drinks and came back shortly after. I made sure that I caught her name, Susan O, to make sure I can write this review with full honest and facts. She was only gone another 2-3 minutes before asking us what we’d like to eat. This made us feel very rushed. While the food was cooking she asked us what we were up to that day and when my partner mentioned we were on a date her entire demeanor changed and she felt cold and short with us. This lasted throughout the rest of the dinner until while I stepped away to use the restroom where she tried to (what seemed like) gain some karma points for a tip by chatting with my partner. She also brought another round of drinks out without us asking and she seemed offended when we asked if they were also free. We felt extremely unwelcome so we got boxes and left. I also did some research and it seems like this place has some unfortunate similar things in its past. It’s unfortunate that a place with such wonderful food can be ruined by such...
