I really really really like Mexican food, and my dear friends at Mami's make very good mexican food. I can tell you the jalapeno burrito is amazing and the people are even better. I am so stoked they have found success taking over this spot from a really lousy predecessor. Some of their food is a little americanized which, depending on your tolerance for heat and authenticity may actually be a good thing. I have a zero-spice wimp of a friend who can enjoy this place too, and the Tamales are legit. Plus they can accommodate a gluten free person if you are the tolerant sort who hangs out with the gastrically crippled. Update 9.8.22: still delicious! I am having more salads these days and am quite addicted to the taco salad with carnitas.

Tamale Plate, two pork tamales, Spanish rice and refried beans. Then because she asked "anything else?". I thought, why not, added a carnitas taco. The tamales are possibly rhe laegest I have ever seen. Shredded pork filling was very good, mesa had absorbed roo much pork fat, was a little greasy and had lost that mesa flavor a tamale lover loves. Not bad , jist not as good as the cibe this place gives. Rhe bibe is authentic and the taco was spot on. Great pork, perfect steamed torts. Cilantro and white onion. Cabbage was unnecessary, but hey, gotta get a veggie in somewhere. Good experience, almost 5 stars.

All in all it was mediocre. The beans and rice were very authentic but they were served warm. The soft tacos really didn't have much on them, meat and cabbage. I had had the pork tamales. They were large and the meat was tender but was lacking in spice. The plates were spendy for what you get. When they brought the food it came with an apology. They explained, they were out of silverware but they did have a plastic fork. Drinks are included with the meal. All in all, if we revisit this place I will revise my review based on the next meal, if we come back.

First time here. I was looking for a restaurant that makes authentic tamales and not the mass made ones like Costco sells and some restaurants use. I called Mami's and when I ask J.C. if they make real tamales, he said "YES, my Mom makes them!" I knew this was the place. He also said "We are known for the best tamales in Eugene." So I order chicken, pork and my favorite jalapeños and cheese. I picked them up the next day and here is my report and review on the jalapeños and cheese. Haven't tried the others yet.

#1 They are hugh in size! 1-1/2 to 2 times larger than the average tamale out there.

#2 To go with the size one might think, "Oh, there's going to be a ton of maza and very little filling." Nope, it's the opposite! There are over stuffed with cheese and the just right amount of jalapeños. Lots and lots of tasty cheese just like I like it to be. No skimping at all. High-quality!

#3. With the tamales fully stuffed this make for a great value and well worth the price!

#4. The maza is tasty and has a nice texture. When I heat at home in the microwave I get a fully dampen a paper towel and wrap it around the tamale with the husk off. Out of the fridge I heat for 1 minute 30 seconds and let sit for a minute or so, so that the steam continues to saturated the maza. This keeps the maza from drying out and works good for me.

So, I'm excited that I finally found a very good tamales. They do not exist in Roseburg where I live. I go to Eugene every 3 weeks anyway. Being from So Cal and a recent transplant here to beautiful Oregon (I'm a Cali-Gonian now) there we not many place there either. Great tamales are just hard to find. Mami's is now.my one and only tamales fix restaurant. The search is...

I bought only a few tamales a few weeks ago to try out their tamales and loved the pork tamales , the chicken tamales were to spicy for my taste. The main reason I am giving Mami's Mexican Grill only 1 star is not for their food but because of their DIS-HONESTY! I called this am and asked about mild chicken tamales ( they don't have control over how spicy the batch of peppers are) so I ordered 1 dozen pork tamales , told the employee that my son would get the tamales after he got off work. I asked if the price was $22 and change since had I forgot the exact price Mami's Mexican Grill's Facebook page and was no longer looking at the page. The employee said "yes" . So I gave my son $23 and told him to pick up the order after work. My son asked for the order and was surprised when the female employee said the total was $30 When my son got home he told me the person who served him told him the prices had been updated since their last FaceBook page update. So I called and asked to speak to the manager . A female employee answered and said she was the manager. I explained what my son told me and she had confirmed she was the one who had served my son. When I told her that her employee didn't give me an exact price me for the dozen tamales she tried to say " We tell our employees to tell the customer how much they owe when they call in an order." I told her he did indeed say " yes " to my question " It will cost $22 and change for the tamales yes?" She didn't apologize for the misunderstanding nor the embarrassment my son felt when another customer paid the difference. The only thing she said was " I will talk to the employee...

the mami asada burrito was bombdiggity, then the fried the mamis chicken nachos, I was a little uncertain by the color, but amid my expectations it was absolutely delicious than for some reason I decided to try the horchata, that was my biggest mistake. I ended up spilling it all over myself ‍ like a riding a bike with 2 and a half migets painted and , plz don't ask about the hamster I still don't know where it came from. Never drink a hot chot with no straw, you'll end up spillin it al ovr urself. Anyways long story my food sat outside for 40 mins and was cold, BEST COLD FOOD IN TOWN!!!! Also don't trust Patrick to deliver with grub hub, he didn't even bother to knock or call, sent a lousy text... and I was about to TIP him one of my Custom Phenomenal Painted STICKERS, too anyways I'm a professional BROKE comedian go follow my Instagram TALLWEIRDANDBOLD, you will absolutely love my impersonation of ROBIN WILLIAMSSSSS THE GREATEST ACTOR TO EVER LIVR and I'm practicing my Jim Carey too :)))) have a wonderful night and comedy is a funny word "arf"‍I really love doggggooosss most of the times more than humans :))), but you seem nice, MAMIS BUILD A BRICK WAREHOUSE comedy, this probably all made more sense with emojis, too bad...
