EDIT: No more rootbeer floats. :( WARNING: Free refills on floats -including- the ice cream. It's dangerously awesome. Anyway, I love MOD pizza, they feel like a non-profit with how customer-centric they are. I just called because my last pizza seemed thinner and floppier than usual and I thought maybe they had changed things up, and the person on the phone took my concern seriously and talked to me about the process and some things I can look for/say to make sure that anomaly is not my experience in the future. Also they are pretty generous with their toppings (some people aren't so much, but you can ask them for more and they don't begrudge you) which is the main reason I go, and taste much better than the other custom-build pizza place in town. And their seasonal toppings are always fabulous. I take it back actually- their pizza tastes much better than any pizza place in town of any type. The next closest would be Sizzle Pie if you don't mind useless floppy crust and that place in Veneta or Pegasus if you don't mind overly doughy crust. And both of those places don't offer personal pizzas at an affordable prize where you can get EVERY topping if you really want. I get a handful of veggies so my pizza always ends up...
Read moreMOD (Made On Demand) pizza could be good. Three things are keeping it from being good: The crust is very, very thin to accommodate rapid cooking in the super-hot oven. When it comes out of the oven, it has no mass to it to retain heat, so it cools to an unacceptably cold level before you can finish the first piece. One way you can work around this problem is to order the "Mega Mod" which is still an 11" pizza, but with double crust so it's more like a normal pizza and it retains heat much better. Takes a little longer to cook, but it's worth it. The employees are trained to control costs by going very light on the cheese and toppings. My last 11" pizza had 6 pepperonis on it; one per slice, as well as random areas on the pizza completely devoid of cheese. You have to ask for more cheese and more toppings as your pizza is constructed. MOD has the modern restaurant aesthetic, which is to say it's got 100% hard surfaces with no floor coverings of any sort and no consideration given to noise control. It can be unbearably loud inside the restaurant. Someone screeching the amazingly heavy steel chairs across the floor can make the fillings come right out of your...
