We tried this place for the first time yesterday as it seemed to have decent reviews.
We were greeted with a smile and was seated immediately, and they accommodated our stroller that we had. We were given chips, salsa, and our waters. The chips tasted great and the salsa was very yummy to me. The waitress was extremely friendly and gave us very quick service.
My boyfriend ordered the enchiladas with Shredded beef. I ordered the Poquito Y Mas and chose a chalupa and a Taco, both with shredded beef. Both of our dishes came with Spanish Rice and refried beans.
My boyfriend enjoyed his meal for the most part, but said the Shredded beef and the beans were flavorless. I experienced the same thing with my Shredded beef and refried beans. Even the Spanish Rice lacked in flavor unfortunately. As for my chalupa, while I enjoyed it for the most part, it was drowned in Lettuce and seemed to have a small strip of the Shredded beef at the bottom of the chalupa. I wish i took a picture. I also ended up mixing my entire plate and turned into into a Taco Salad because the chalupa couldn't hold its shape.
We were a bit disappointed with the food part as my bill was $40 for food that lacked in flavor. We wanted to enjoy the food. But at least we appreciated the service and friendly atmosphere.
My boyfriend and I agreed to give it another chance and next time we will order something else. I wish I could've rated them 5 stars honestly. We will see how it...
Read moreFood is good here, but a male server there needs help with his customer service skills. I ordered a meal here and the wrong beans were initially put on my plate. Our server brought a side of the correct beans which was fine. No biggie, it happens. My issue was that he didn't check on me once throughout the entire meal. He didn't ask how my meal was, if I needed anything, or if we wanted another drink. (I was the only one that ordered a meal). He didn't replenish our chips when we had leftover queso dip on the table and our chip bowl sat empty. I then asked for a to go box and he just gave me a box for my meal, but didn't ask if we wanted the queso dip to go and more chips to take home. I don't know the guy's name, but the female server there I saw attending to other customers was much more personable, and had better customer service than this guy. Next time we ever come here I will request another server if...
Read moreWe started off on a bad foot. The sign out front declared "Free Appetizers During Happy Hour!" Plural. AppetizerS. But there was no selection; the only free app was a plate of nachos. The nachos actually turned out to be pretty tasty, though, so it could have been worse. We ordered margaritas, which were OK in the generic, pre-mixed, brand-name kind of way. And the salsa tasted like it was made with canned tomatoes instead of fresh. It also didn't help that the waiter didn't understand enough English to know what we were saying when we asked if nachos were our only choice for free appetizers. All-in-all, it felt like a Mexican restaurant that wasn't trying very hard to accomplish much of anything. I'm not sure how Chapala established itself as the upper crust of Eugene Mexican food, but it's definitely not a justly...
