Goolsby's — Restaurant in Evans

I'm having a hard time coming up with just how bad this place was...

The food is like if you told someone, who's maybe like 8 and who's favorite food is candy, what BBQ was and how to vaguely make it to make the food... That's probably how this came to be. All the meat was overcooked and dry, the sauce they put on it is like a red vinegar mixed with corn syrup (so sweet) and I just can't. Why was my green beans sweet?! The ribs were tough. I just gave up trying to eat them after a bit.

When we came in, the woman that helped with the meats was pleasant (the only positive experience here). She told us that since it was our first time that we get free peach cobbler. Sounds awesome. The woman that helped with the sides was barely helpful and the woman at the register was talking to someone else saying some people were idiots. Not professional or pleasant in the least bit. I let her know about the peach cobbler and she said ok. That was it. We didn't get the peach cobbler, which we didn't even want afterwards because everything else was so freaking sweet for some reason. Also, the rolls we're stale and I imagine store bought.

This place was just fail. Never planning on going back and definitely letting everyone I know it's not...

This place is the best in Augusta if u want meat and homemade vegetables. The BBQ sauce is out of this world amazing. The ribs fall of the bone. The best fried pork loin I have ever hade u can enjoy it with your choice of gravy or my favorite dipped in the best BBQ sauce but the best part is the people. Wonderful kind Christian family who treats their employees and dinners like family. U have to have a ho cake fried cornbread like grandma did. And if it's your first trip they treat u to fresh homemade peach cobbler. The restaurant has 2 pictures of slaves picking cotton on a plantation in the dinning room. These are new paintings added and where not there before. I asked to speak to a manager about them, because I was sitting next to a very nice family that had obviously just came from church and had to sit right under the picture. I was told ownership was not going to do anything about it and that they had them made from a artist that painted them for the restaurant. I pointed out how in bad taste they where and she actually asked me if I had a problem with black people! No I'm trying to get you to see that slaves picking cotton in a restaurant is not okay and you need to take the picture down, not remove the black people next to me. The only thing business under is when you stop spending your money there. There is no place for this our society and ignoring it is the same as tolerating it. This is a shame because I feel Mr. Goolsby was a good man and this shouldn't be a reflection of him in his restaurant, but it is. I will not be returning and hope you...
