i absolutely love this place--they always knock it out of the park with their drinks and pastries, interior is so cute and inviting, and i'm always happy to support a Latino-owned business. however, the majority of the time i come here, i will be waiting 10+ minutes for my drink or pastry, which is very hard for me to do because i order to-go so i can go back to work. the one time I had to wait nearly 20 minutes for my order, it was also never communicated to me at any point that the pastry would take longer to come out, which i took issue with. this is really unfortunate because this would absolutely be my go-to place for a quick bite or drink during work if there were better wait times/communication from staff, especially considering there are often not that many orders at a time. so, unless you are getting a cold dessert that you can take immediately, i highly recommend coming here when you have some time to spare/are working...
Read moreThis morning we visited Mr Cachito, recommended by friends. I had the ham and bacon cachito, it was DELICIOUS!! cachito is a Venezuelan dish, it’s a thin bread stuff usually with Ham, but here they have different varieties. Also had the cream cheese and mushroom pastelito, it was amazing! Very fresh and tasty, they have different drinks and they offer Malta which is a popular drink in Venezuela. The coffee was incredible good, I was talking to the owner and told him not to never change the espresso machine, because the taste of that coffee is everything! I had to go tres leches and quesillo, both made with the Venezuelan recipes. The owners came and had a very pleasant conversation with me, thanks Rolando and Daniela! And one of the girls gave me a alfajor filled with dulce de leche for free! The whole staff is very friendly and very polite. 110% recommend this place, if you are around Evanston go...
Read moreI ordered a small iced mocha, a ham cachito, and a turkey cachito. I got a medium iced mocha which was way too sweet because the cup was coated in chocolate syrup. When I got my order, I noticed there wasn't the ham cachito in the bag, and so I asked the guy. He said you got turkey. Right, I ordered a turkey AND a ham. So he said he would ring me up for one, but then I noticed the screen said ham and bacon and cream cheese. I told him I only wanted the ham, he said that's what he had. That's not even what I ordered, so I said never mind. Upon eating the turkey, I found out it barely had any turkey, but a chunk of cream cheese in it. The outside was not that soft and there was no flavor. The menu doesn't say it has cream cheese, only the second item (ham and cream cheese) listed on the menu board say that it comes with cream cheese. Misleading information and not ringing up...
