Diamond's diner — Restaurant in Evansville

My first time. They advertise a friendly atmosphere, but I did not receive that when I walked in, or prior to walking in. It's all older Caucasian people and I can feel the hostility in their stares as I exited my car on the way in. As an African American man I sorta felt that was going to be the case with this place so I placed a order for pickup. I even received nasty stares from the waitresses. The only other non-white person in there was a Mexican American. I haven't tried the food yet hopefully it's better than the atmosphere.

Update: I ordered a chef's omelette, white toast with strawberry jelly. I got my girlfriend a double cheeseburger and fries. I didn't get my toast or jelly. My girlfriend's fries were cold, mind you I live a 5 minutes drive away. I've had a better omelette at IHOP. MY girlfriend said her burger was delicious. I'd never go and sit down and and eat inside there restaurant. I might place another pick up order to go. This was our first time coming, and we had such a great experience here! Even though we came during a busy Saturday peak time, we were greeted right away by the owner and seated immediately — no wait at all, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly and welcoming from start to finish.

Our food came out in less than 15 minutes, piping hot and incredibly fresh. Every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care. You can really taste the quality in each bite.

A first time visit. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We asked what was best and told fried chicken. They were not wrong. The chicken was crispy, tender, juicy, and piping hot! The plate cone with 2 sides I had a salad and green beans. The salad dressing i picked was Ranch. There is nothing better than homemade Ranch. The green beans was great. My DH would say they needed salt but if you are low sodium they were perfect!!! Salt can be add but not taken away. My friend had the mashed potatoes and gravy.
