Drake's is a wonderful restaurant on the east side of Evansville that proudly serves, "Beer, Burgers, and Sushi." The building is modern and resembles a hidden tucked away sports bar. I enjoy the outer brick design with the wooden accents along the entrance. There are three large 'doors' that do open up and allow for a 'patio' type experience, which adds an extra wow factor to your dining experience. The parking lot and surrounding areas were very clean and well maintained as well. For the early afternoon, we did not have a wait time to be seated and were done so promptly. Our table was clean and stocked, the floors were clean and debris free, and the overall atmosphere was great. The restroom was well lit, clean, stocked, and didn't smell foul at all. There were multiple TV's over the bar located in the center and plenty of beer brand and liquor brand décor hanging on the walls, and it was nice and bright as well. There was a rather small sushi station close to the kitchen entrance. I wasn't really able to see the chefs utilizing there skills which I feel always adds to the dining experience. I believe that a larger sushi bar would help benefit the restaurant, since it is part of the menu and slogan. As far as service goes, the entire entourage was fantastic. Our server was very attentive and engaging. We had a question about a mixed drink from the bar and different liquor options as well as amounts. Our server notified the bar tender, who then in turn, took the time to come over and help us discover alternate drink options and combinations. Service at its best! We ordered a couple of separate items and they were spot on! Burgers weren't soggy, sushi was exquisite, and the fried pickles were awesome! The PQA value was exceptional to say the least. Our overall price was quite fair for our food since our burgers and portions were rather large (not complaining!), and the overall quality of our food was amazing! We will definitely be returning soon! Their hospitality, hit me, 'In...
Read moreI ordered carryout from Drake's the first time we patronized the establishment - my partner wanted a burger and we thought we should give a new local place a try. My expectations were admittedly low - I thought for sure that a place with a gimmick like offering both burgers and sushi would inevitably mean one of the two would be noticably higher in quality. Also, sit down fast casual burger chains such as Red Robin usually do not appeal to me at all, and I typically find the food overpriced for the quality.
But, I'm happy to say Drake's was a pleasant surprise! My partner ordered The American burger, and I got the Morning Glory burger. The burgers are huge, so I feel like the price point is justified, and I appreciate that they are smash burgers, since I'm more a fan of that style. The meat was seasoned well and was high quality, and the overall flavor experience was great. I particularly liked that the preparation of the egg even though I didn't specify - I love a good burger with an over medium egg. The only negative for me was that my portion of fries was very small (also I'm not a huge fan of the crinkle cut style, but that's just preference speaking).
We also ordered a Chicago sushi roll and the Sriracha wings to split. The wings had a dry rub with a pleasant kick and I thought they were a good size and quantity for the price, which is not always the case these days. The Chicago roll was a surprise favorite, too! Their knives must be sharp because you couldn't even tell our roll was cut at first. I'm not the guest fan of most fish, so when there's a roll with a non-seafood protein, I'm always excited. It was well-balanced and flavorful with a nice amount of crunch.
Overall, I'm very pleased and impressed, and we will be back! Curbside service was prompt and hassle free as well. I hope Drake's keeps up the quality and that we see them to continue to flourish in...
Read moreI usually love Drake’s. I live out of town, but often visit there. I’ve not been disappointed until my most recent trip. I was alone, so I sat at the bar. There were three employees behind the bar working, plus another 1-2 two employees coming up for drink orders for their tables. It took a few minutes to get waited on, which I understand as they were busy. However, I got the waitress who was not friendly. I ordered a drink, got it, and I never thought she was coming back to take my dinner order. I arrived at 5:40. Prime dinner time. Eventually after making eye contact with her several times, she came back. I ordered and also let her know I would have a to go order, so just to put that in when I was close to getting my check. She never came back. She and the other staff were too busy talking and laughing. It was a joke. I ran out of a drink mid-meal. Finally just ate the rest without a drink. She finally saw me looking at her, and went to the back to get my to go order without asking if I needed anything else. She came back, sat the bag down and tried to walk off. I asked for another drink as I was not ready. I was wasting time. So the food got cold. She and staff continued to joke and ignore customers. I was infuriated. She could tell, and never came back again. Another girl cashed me out, leaving her name as my waitress on the ticket. Owner, please reach out. This is a business, not high school. I want to come back. As I said I love the atmosphere and the food, but I was treated poorly and one certain person needs to go. Also, Hannah or whoever is looking at this review, reply ON HERE. I don’t want a link. There are SEVERAL reviews on here talking about the SAME problem. Staff needs to work for the customer!! Not gossip and talk in groups and...
