Normally, this place would've received 5 stars across the board, but this visit was horrible. My husband and I go there all the time, and we drove 1 and a half hours from Kentucky, to go to breakfast here because it's ALWAYS been our favorite breakfast place. We ordered coffee and my husband asked for honey for his, which he always gets/uses for his coffee. The waitress said that will be $1.00 extra. (That was a first!) Anyway, I ALWAYS get their "Very Berry Stuffed Waffle" and bacon. My husband got an omelette, and asked for german potatoes (home fries with onion), instead of the hashbrowns as he always does. The waitress again said, that will be $1.00 extra, (another first). My husband declined and said just give me the hashbrowns. The foid came and after 2 bites, I discovered that there was a 1 inch sliver of plastic cooked into my waffle (a piece of the black plastic is visible in the top right-of-center of the picture, but I hadn't noticed it at first, or I would have sent the food back immediately). When I told the waitress she took the plastic, but was about to leave the waffle. I stopped her and told her that I wasn't going to eat the waffle after finding a foreign substance in it. She then took it, came back said she told the owner, and brought me a menu to order something else. I then ordered egg whites with cheese, hash browns, bacon, and wheat toast. When THIS order came there was no cheese on the egg whites, and there was something that looked like mustard smeared on the toast. My husband tasted it and said he didn't know WHAT it was, but said that it was gritty. (He's bolder than me, because I wasn't ABOUT to taste it.) I again called the waitress over and told her about it and the missing cheese from my egg whites. She insisted that it WAS butter. I gave the toast to her, ate the potatoes and bacon. She later came back and said that the "stuff" on the toast wasn't butter, but she didnt elaborate. She then brought us a check for $27+. My husband paid the bill anyway. With all the money we have spent here over the years, I would have expected them to comp our meal, and apologize. But we got neither. Needless to say, we won't be going back! It's a shame too because it USED TO BE our favorite breakfast place! Not anymore!

Update on my Friendship Diner review, the last time I gave it 4 stars, it was right after they opened up after covid, they were open for dine in. They did a good job that day, they were not busy that day. Went back the other day and they were crowded, which may account for some of what happened. I ordered a breakfast combo meal, which on the menu, I saw later, clearly said: Includes 2 eggs, 2 sausage lengths, 2 smokehouse bacon strips and one sausage patty. What I received was: 2 sausage lengths, 2 eggs and a biscuit with some gravy on it, still paid full price for the combo meats that I did not get. I thought there was something wrong and confronted the waitress and she said "oh, no that's all you get, they just didn't put commas on the menu, which was, of course, a lie. In all fairness she did say she would get me an order of bacon, but I declined because I was not sure what was going on. Could not be more disappointed.

First time eating here, probably the last. The chicken fried steak was great, otherwise I would've given the food a 2. My "german" potatoes were regular dinner shredded potatoes, which tasted frozen...really no taste...then they piled some brown onions on top. They were gross, so I put them aside. I asked for eggs over medium. Granted, over medium is hard to get at a dinner, and this was no exception! The eggs just ran all over the place, they were over easy. I didn't eat them at all, grossed me out. I also had a couple of pieces of bacon which were cooked right. Crisp, yet not burnt! The biscuit I had was hard on some ends... My waitress was the nicest, happiest and most friendly waitress I think I've ever encountered!! She was great! Sad I won't be seeing her again!! I'm a good cook, so I'm hard on places, if it's not better than what I make, no way will I go back!!

My wife & I had to escape the horrid hotel food and ended up here based on a friends recommendation. I am so glad we listened! We had a day on the road planned, so my wife I split the country fried steak breakfast. We chose the German fries and the pancakes for the sides. Pancakes were fluffy and the potatoes were heavenly for to a German boy like me. Honestly, there was more than enough for 2 adults since we could not finish it!

If you like a good cup of coffee, you'll be please with the pours here. Nothing foofy or frou-frou, just an honest cup of joe. Exactly what you want when you are getting ready for a 5 hour drive. Though you need to pay attention, the wait staff is so on the ball that if you aren't careful, they will keep your coffee refilled every time you set it down. It was almost comical, I like to finish my coffee before I eat breakfast, but I could never finish my cup because the awesomely friendly and ninja quiet staff kept refilling it! I finally had to put a butter knife across the cup so they couldn't pour any more!

Now obviously this was our first and only visit to this place. The only bad thing I can say is that it's popularity makes it very crowded and somewhat loud. Maybe it would be more quaint and quiet on a weekday, but Sunday is crazy busy. So while I prefer quiet, others may like the bustle. That is the only reason I...

Well, I wish I could rate this place higher. The food was pretty darn good. There was a very extensive menu with normal diner fare with other options sprinkled in. That was not the problem. I debated writing a review because our first experience there has been bothering me, so here I am. The reason I rate it 2 stars is because our server made our experience a very awkward brunch. I served for 10 years and I tried so hard to calm the situation and be understanding because I know that some times you are just having a bad day. However, the server was very loud and aggressive towards another server (whom we knew) and accused her of taking her table right there in front of us just because she stopped to say hello. After our meal, my significant other looked into his wallet and was going to tip with cash, but didn't have enough change so we went up to the register to get some. This is where our server grabbed the server whom we knew and accused her of stealing the tip off the table. I was so embarrassed for her. It made me angry to see her be treated like that. I have never stiffed a server n my life, but I sure thought about it. I will give this place another chance, because I can assume at some point this person will no longer be employed there with the way...
