Before we voice our concern regarding our most recent experience at Home Depot, let me first say that we are regular customers, and we will continue to be unless our most recent experience becomes the norm. Their standard of customer service on the floor is always above Lowes and Menards. This has been our experience and we have many times shared this with family and friends. On 8-11-20 we purchased a Heavy Duty Husky workbench for $1,045.39 ( that balance inc. Tax & Delivery Fee). Our cashier at the service desk was Brad. As he guided us through the checkout process, from start to finish he managed to make eye contact once. Through the process we informed Brad that there was a damaged workbench on the floor, and we didn't want that one delived. There was no eye contact, or any kind of acknowledgement that we had said anything. As we left, we discussed the type of customer service we had just received and figured that we would get the damaged workbench. On 8-13-20 we received the workbench and yes......it was damaged. It had multiple scratches on the front, the drawer front was bent and the side of the bench had a really big dent the whole width of the cabinet, with the paint scratch off....it was truly an OMG! This item was not delivered in a box, it had been shrink wrapped, so I can't image how this damage could not have been seen by somebody. We called Home Depot and asked to speak with management, we also called Home Depots call center to express our concerns. We don't feel that we are just another disgruntled customer. We had made two trips to Home Depot to make sure that it was the right purchase for us. We made Brad aware of damaged goods ( in his defense, we were later told by management, that this workbench was shipped from the Westside store and not the Eastside). We had to make ourselves available all day because they can't give you an estimated delivery time. So, you can imagine our frustration when we received the damaged goods. We do realize that these kinds of things happen. If we had been made to feel like a valued customer when the purchase was made, I would like to think that our reaction would not have been so negative. Derrick did get the brunt of our frustration, but handled it professionally, and is in the process of making things right for...
Read moreI cannot begin to stay the problems I have had at the store. The latest one involves buying some floor tile. I found it on their website. Unable to buy it. Could not ship it to store could not ship at the house just could not be bought. I went down to the store and the employee was nice enough to spend an hour somehow just getting it shipped for one Depot to the store. A week and a half later I get a call my order has been canceled. I threw a fit. This was the only floor I had wanted and it's keeping me homeless because I cannot move into my house until the floor is put down in the kitchen finished. Anyway I don't know what happened they have it ordered again. We shall see what happens. I cannot begin to stay the problems I have had at the store. The latest one involves buying some floor tile. Paid $800 from one of their contractors to have them installed. So now I go to buy the over the range microwave and I see there's not enough space between the top of the oven and the cabinets to put a microwave after I already had wires run and everything else. This cannot be fixed. So looks like I am homeless for the rest of my life because I have given homedepot my entire $10,000 that was allotted for this kitchen and the cabinets are wrong so I don't even need...
Read moreWe ordered carpet 6/15 (six weeks ago). 7/3 we scheduled their installer crew to come on 7/27. Our carpet was supposedly delivered to the installers on 6/30 (before we even spoke with the scheduling crew), but apparently they had no record of receiving it. Despite this, when I called and scheduled on 7/3, there was no mention made of the missing carpet. We wanted installation 7/28, but they explained that only one crew would be able to do the whole job in one day and they were only available 7/27...so we scheduled that.
We called this week to get more details on the install and were told that not only were we not on their schedule for installation at all, but that they also did not have our carpet. How no one followed up on $10,000 of missing carpet is baffling, as is the fact that we scheduled our install with a man who apparently failed to actually put us on the schedule.
August 7th is the last possible day we absolutely had to have our carpet in by (which is why we ordered it mid June). After several calls, transfers and holds-us having to reach out to both home Depot and crew 2 as apparently neither of them were going to contact us about the matter-the earliest they say they can do our carpet now is August 11th.
I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed with both home Depot and the schedulers. Had we not called in, when were they going to catch the fact that our paid for carpet went missing a month ago 😑 And since they apparently failed to actually put us on the schedule when we called and set our date, then why has no one reached out to us to set up installation (which would have clued us in weeks ago that they had fumbled things)?
Wasn't planning on such irresponsibility or lack of customer service when we spent ten thousand...
