Tonight we went to Hokkaido Ramen & Sushi Bar. We went once before on Christmas during their soft opening and had ramen, which was very good. Tonight we wanted to try their sushi. We ordered harumaki (vegetable spring rolls), cucumber salad, Sushi Deluxe (9pc chef choice nigiri and tuna roll), rainbow roll, and California roll. The harumaki was nicely crispy and flavorful and the sweet chili sauce is the perfect accompaniment. The cucumber salad was also good, though best if you get avocado in every bite (which made us wish there was a bit more of the avocado). The sushi was….fine. The fish seemed fresh and well prepared. But overall the sushi was just ok, nothing exciting. The rice could have used more vinegar seasoning for sure. The tuna roll was a bit sloppily rolled and ended up coming apart some. There was nothing really wrong with the sushi, it just wasn’t anything special. We had to ask our server 4 times if they had ngiri because he didn’t know what it was. He did finally point us to the sushi deluxe, which is the only option to get ngiri. Overall we felt the appetizers were good and a nice portion. The sushi was underwhelming and overpriced. Service was good and the interior is modern and clean. We will go back for ramen, but likely...

Great food and drinks with a super friendly staff. Service is fast and fresh. They are able to customize meals as needed. Chopsticks are at the table and fork are provided with entrees. Beware though the entree portions are HUGE! You might want to plan to share. The broth is rich and not too salty. There is LOTS of protein to be found among the noodles. They do have gluten free and vegetarian options (As an abligate meat eater, I generally pass on those options). Also, as you happily slurp through your meal, just know someone will probably get splashed. Drink options are coke products, water, hot tea, or tea/boba blends. My friend had the green tea and milk blend drink. It looks orange and It kind of tastes like chocolate and gets sweeter as time goes by. BTW they do not have alternative milks. I had the strawberry galaxy tea. It has a slight flowery taste, then fruity, and then ends with a tange. Fair warning, it is good but also super sweet and also keeps getting sweeter! The atmosphere was easy going and quiet enough to have a conversation while enjoying your meal. Overall it was a great experience. We will...

We came into the parking lot a little offset at first because of the patchy parking lot, but when we actually first stepped foot into the restaurant the atmosphere did a 360. Inside smells off heart warming broth being cooked in the back, we were greeted by our waiter who immediately sat us. Then a kind elderly man took our order, he brought out our first order of takoyaki, which are fried octopus balls and they tasted incredible. The sauce paired with the warm filling on the inside tasted heavenly. After finishing the appetizer I was then brought out my spicy beef ramen. And I just have to say, this is genuine, this is what we’ve been needing, not some high end luxury ramen restaurant that charges absurd prices. Something reasonable, but incredibly tasty. The beef that was brought out to me came almost falling off the bone, yet so juicy and so meaty. My mouth kept tasting all these different flavors, a symphony of the true essence of ramen. I’m an Asian person that’s been eating ramen all his life and I can say without a doubt this would be my number 1 ramen spot...

Overall, enjoyed my experience & would go again. The service was very friendly & I enjoyed how they decorated the inside of thr restaurant. The bubbles teas are very heavy on the floral tea, even the brown sugar bubble tea. They were both very good if you like that flavor profile! The gyoza was very tasty & was both soft & crunchy. My friend enjoyed the TanTanmen a lot. I ordered the Garlic Tonkotsu, which I would alone only give 4 stars. It was just okay & had a subtle bitterness to it. But I'm looking forward to trying other flavors. Despite not loving my ramen I give this place a high rating because you get a lot for what you pay for. I ordered extra Chasu pork because most places are skimpy on the chasu. It was unnecessary as they give you several decently sized slices. I had plenty of soup, noodles & chasu to take home for a second meal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hokkaido, and I must say, it’s a vibrant and colorful addition to our town! Having traveled extensively, I can confidently say they have truly hit the mark with their offerings. The staff was exceptionally friendly and incredibly fast, especially for a place that just opened. Their organization and proficiency were impressive, making the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning! Thank you for the delicious meal and the refreshing breath of fresh air you’ve brought to the limited cuisine options in Evansville. Highly recommended! The teriyaki sauce is phenomenal. Just fix the holes in the parking lot, and it's perfect😉
