If you’re in Southern Indiana and craving a foldable slice of Brooklyn pie, this one is worth checking out. It is pretty close to what I call NY style pizza, which I find subjective anyway (even if I am not a New Yorker). I’ve eaten many slices of pie at multiple NY pizzerias/delis all over the five Burroughs of NY, and they are all different, but at least similar in design, and this one meets the basic criteria for NY style pie (to me, an outsider). A nice thin crust with a little “pull” to it, and a bit thicker around the edges (I call it the pie grip) . Sauce was good (not great, but pretty good). Quality toppings, not too much or too little, just the right amount. In short, it is a well balanced pizza and far beyond anything you’ll get at ANY chain pizzeria. The location is off the beaten path (in a strip mall of sorts), so unless you live in the neighborhood, you could easily miss it. Not much to say about the decor and ambience of the place, but the same can be said for so many other restaurants with Great food. In fact, most NY style pizzerias and delis I have been to are much the same; the focus is on the food, not the atmosphere. If you’ve got good pie though, who cares about what color the walls are or whether the table you’re eating at cost more than your car. I should point out that I ordered a whole pie, not just a slice, which makes a difference IMO. I will just have a slice for lunch next time I am in the area though to see if there is much difference in the par cooked slices compared to...
Read moreWe were referred to this place . The first visit we were the only customer the waiter was nervous and unsure he got our order wrong I told him I HATE mushrooms he put mushrooms on the pizza and when I complained he argued with me and did nothing to make it right I spent $20 on the pizza alone. I called and spoke with the owner a few days later he explained the server was actually the dishwasher and he was working the counter that day alone he apologized and assured me if I were to come in again he would make it right. I went in and told the girl what happened and the owner assured me he would make it right, she took my order and told us she was aware of our experience and the owner did tell her to take care of us fully expecting a free meal she rang us up after wr ate and told us the breadsticks were free I spent another $22 my wife has called several times since then and is always told the owner is unavailable. Very unhappy. The food...
Read moreBest pizza in Southern IN. One bite, everyone knows the rules. I give it a 8.1, Frankie. Sauce is good, crust is good. It's got good flop. Good job. I'd eat it again. Oh and the buffalo wings, Frankie? Oh! To die for! It's like, they raised the buffalo themselves from a baby on a diet of kindness and hot sauce. Then harvested the wings 10 minutes before they served them, baked to perfection, and covered in more sauce! Delicious, Frankie! Absolutely delicious! Between the pizza and wings, I lost sense of all reality and my body transported itself back to Buffalo, NY and I was alone with just my pizza and wings. It was beautiful. I almost shed a tear. I didn't want to leave. I didn't want to come back to reality. Then my wife kicked me because I was causing a scene what with my drooling and euphoric grunting noises. So yeah, here I am, back in cold, rainy Indiana reality, wishing I had more...
