Somewhere between a 2 and 3 honestly. Read the reviews before coming and didn't know what to expect and that's what I got. It's an OK sushi place. Average sushi prices but there are better quality sushi place if you price compare. Parking is potentially a challenge but not a show stopper. The venue itself is a great little place. Rustic and a part of downtown Everett history. Props there. No soap in the bathroom so that's a health issue right out of the gate considering we arrived right when it opened. Decent liquor selection. The Old Fashioned was just ok and I ordered it with Basil Hayden. Should have just ordered it neat. No cocktail ice cubes either at opening was strike two. Bar basic prep fail. The sushi wasn't anything extraordinary. Ordered Tempura Platter....batter had ZERO flavor and the sauce may as well have been tainted water... no flavor there either. Calamari was similar. Also ordered a few rolls. The pieces are cut smaller to appear as if you're getting more but it's an average size roll. The place was packed, yes, and service was spotty. Lots of staff behind the counter but not a lot on the floor which I didn't understand as busy as it was. We were a party of 7 and ordered a lot of food for a birthday celebration but were asked to leave to turn the tables even though we still had drinks and were talking. Even with reservations waiting, there were other tables that could have been merged just as well. Most likely won't be back which I know won't break the bank but there must be something that draws locals there. Maybe it's limited sushi options in the area, not sure, but it might just be convenience. Food looks great in the pics but again... average.

Really good sushi and sake in Everett. Love the ambience— staging an Asian street indoors, try to catch the sake flight during happy hour. Super fresh sashimi and nigiri, well-made rolls. Generous amount of escolar :)

My wife and I have been eating here for years, it’s the best sushi spot in Everett and they have a great selection of rolls (our favorite is the fair maiden) As stated, we’ve been coming to eat here for years and I’ve never really thought about leaving a review, but last night was such a brilliant experience that I feel compelled to leave a review. When we arrived my toddler son (2yo) just was not interested in sitting in his high chair at all, there was a bit of back and forth trying to reason with him but he just was not having it. Our wonderful waitress Sophie noticed this and offered to bring us some rice for him to try and distract him with food. She came back with a full bowl of rice, as well as a second bowl with some mixed fruits! He loved all of it and happily sat down. Later on when our sushi rolls came out my son noticed the one with salmon on top and really wanted some, he kept asking for ā€œfish, fish.ā€ Unfortunately he’s too young to eat sushi yet so I asked the waitress if there was any way she could bring us some cooked salmon (of course we would pay for that though), again she followed through just wonderfully. She brought him half a salmon fillet on a plate and he loved every bite of it. The night started with us dealing with a grumpy toddler and ended with everyone being very full and satisfied thanks to a great waitstaff and chefs that were more than willing to accommodate us.

I really don't know how this place gets such high reviews. But, last week husband ordered. We had to go back twice to get our missing items and items that were messed up redone. Had to speak to the manager the second time because having to go back twice wasn't exactly easy.

Cut to this week when our go to sushi spot closed early on Friday night. So I decided to door dash from Katana. Ordered Philly sushi, chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, beef bibimbop with extra beef and side of sushi rice. Was delivered but, missing bibimbop and extra beef.

I know it wasn't door dash. This is a repeat issue with this restaurant. And it was like an extra issue that the bibimbop rice was burnt. If I want good bibimbop with non-overcooked rice and veggies I'll go to K-fresh. If I want good teriyaki I'll stick to Botan. And if Kai sushi closes early then I'll just not get sushi that night.

I've constantly gone to this place and Terracota Red. But, both have underlying issues that don't seem to be resolved. Whether it's missing parts of an order or an extravagant tip being added to our order after we paid. And going back and forth with management about it and then being told we'd get a free meal next time and no real apology. When really whatd happened should've kept me from ever returning but I try to give local businesses my support. But, I think we are done with Katana and...
