I worked night shift the night before and was hoping to come in and have a nice simple, but different breakfast and a cup of Turkish coffee thinking that I'm coming in to some little cozy cafe. I was told that what I wanted, which was the crepe, was going to take 40 minutes to make and that a cup of Turkish coffee would take 20 minutes. And had I known that I was going to wait 20 minutes for them to heat up this paroshky I would have gone ahead and ordered the coffee. Except that I'm not impressed with this paroshky either. It's supposed to be salmon but frankly it taste like warm canned tuna. My other item was some kind of sweet cheese pastry and that tasted much better and I guess had I left it at that I may have had hope for coming back here but frankly after being banished to waiting in my car for the initial waiting period, when she told me to come back in 5 to 10 minutes, and then when there were 4 of us standing there waiting on our orders she told us we would have to go outside and wait. OK 1st of all I came back when you told me to I didn't just hang out here and 2nd of all it's raining. I'm already eating breakfast in my car which is exactly what I didn't want but I'm trying to support a small business and thought that I was going to have something delicious and unique for breakfast and I'm eating warm canned salmon in a bun. And if you wanted to lead me to believe otherwise that it didn't come from the can you probably should have removed the little bones. I'm from the Midwest we make these salmon patties a lot and I know what these bones crush like when they're mixed in with something else, so: even though I say this taste like warm canned tuna I do know that it is in fact salmon but it is in fact canned salmon. If I ever dare set foot in here again it will not be for a savory dish.
How is me ordering online going to help the canned salmon aspect of that disaster? Also: No. Shouldn't have to order online and I watched people who DID order online show up and STILL wait...
Read moreWhat a shame because this place has the potential to be great, but the staff not listening and getting snotty plus the food not being fresh ruined it for me and the party I was with.
We spent rough $147.00 getting a variety of different things some to stay such as the crepe, piroshky, and hot tea and all of the baked goods and one crepe to go.
The young lady with colored hair (not sure what her name was) brought out all of the baked goods on plates when I told her & the older lady at the register) multiple times that the baked goods were to go. Then they brought out a crepe on a plate that was suppose to be to go and when I told her as in the older lady she made the remark “well now you tell me, you should have said it the first time”. As previously stated I told them MULTIPLE times and they acted extremely inconvenienced when they were asked to please box the items up.
A few of the baked goods we ordered were a Neapolitan, chocolate horns, honey cake, and ant hills. Everything was extremely dry and tasted stale.
We ordered a mango crepe to eat there, and the mango was rancid you could tell it was spoiled and over ripped to the point it was mushy. When brought to the attention of the staff I simply got an ok. Not once did I ask for a refund I even made the remark I just wanted to let them know so nobody gets sick.
I told the staff thank you several times and did not get a you’re welcome a smile nothing, they looked miserable absolutely miserable. I will say there was a young lady who looked Hispanic that was trying her best to smile and be kind to everyone.
The place itself is decorated wonderfully. I wanted to love it so bad but...
Read moreAbsolutely love this place! Whether it is through Door Dash because it is rainy and cold outside or dining in there is never a time I am disappointed. The people are always friendly (even when insanely busy) and the food is always good.
I have never had a piroshky before but they are very similar to Lithuanian lasineciai. Which if they made, I would be there every week. They were filling and the dough was slightly sweet. Very tasty and good for later meals. I got the spinach, cheese and polish sausage one and had it for lunch. Make sure to wrap it in a damp paper towel if you plan on microwaving them, or the bread dries out and gets hard (learned that the hard way).
Finally, I want to mention that this place has a great tea selection and the people working there give great suggestions. It is all loose leaf and they put it in a small bag, charging by the oz. It was the best cream earl grey I have ever had. I also have gotten other teas from them as birthday or Christmas gifts and everyone said that the teas were fantastic.
Few Down Sides(written 11.10.21) Business has really picked up for them and they still offer summer fruits that aren't in season for their sweet crepes. Because of that the fruits haven't always been the ripest, causing their sweet crepes to be sour.
They have a special for a cinnamon apple sweet crepe filling (I WAS PUMPED), it was good, but had A LOT of cinnamon that it over powered the sweet apple goodness. Not really a complaint just hard to judge when making a...
