Lady Fannie Mae's Ultimate Fish Fry — Restaurant in Fairburn

I’ll be honest, the only words that can describe my experience are HIDDEN GEM!!!

I was in the area for a meeting and my coworker told me I had to give this restaurant a try. We decided to go here for lunch!

The location sits right on the main strip so it’s easy to find. The space is larger inside than it appears outside which is perfect as it’s not crowded and has multiple booths making it perfect for friends. There are also a few high tables so if you come alone you can still enjoy the ambiance.

I decided to get the whiting with fries and boyyyyyyy am I happy that I did. As I am a lover of whiting, I am a true lover of GOOD FRIED WHITING. When I tell you, this fish was perfectly fried. I’m talking about golden fried outside. Soft meaty middle. And most enjoyable, a seasoning blend that flavors the fish yet still allows it to be the center of attention. Paired with the well done fries (I always ask for crispy), this lunch break has turned me into a customer for life.

The young lady at the cash register was very pleasant and presented a welcoming environment to the establishment. Further, taking service to the next level, the cook (who I think may be the owner) came from the back to greet us and ask if everything was to our liking. Wow! I’m talking Southern Hospitality and Customer Focused Deliverables along with a great meal. Whew! It gets no better.

Oh yeah, I’m not really a lover of Hush Puppies, however, whatever they used to create these hush puppies, I ate them both. LoL!!!!!!!!

Came in on a Saturday afternoon! Clean establishment! Very homey feel to it. ! Had booths and tables available for seating. You place your order up front with the cashier. Menu is right above order station. Was greeted promptly. It was our first time so we looked over the menu and placed my order. I got the 2 piece catfish dinner. My only issue was that no substitutions are allowed. I didn't really want the fries but it was fine. For only 12 bucks can't beat it. And the other sides are only 2 dollars! Food is cooked to order! You can hear the food being dropped in the grease!! We cat down at the cozy booth and waited for the food! We decided to dine in, however once I got my food it was too hot to eat! That's freshness right there! Can't beat it!! The table had these little lamps that were just adorable! I did go back and order the fried okra.. I couldn't pass it up! When our number was called , you go to the counter to pick is up, they do open the boxes for you to see ur food! Everyone was very friendly. The fish was breaded nicely and had a nice crisp to it, flavorful and the fries and okra were cooked nicely as well. Overall I enjoyed my food and will be returning to support call...

Update* 7/19/24 …. Unfortunately, this restaurant has fallen off significantly over the last few months. I was their number one top review for seven months. However, over the last two months I have had three consecutive poor experiences at this restaurant. This time when I went, my fish was so thin and rubbery… it had no Flesh on it. It was not edible. I had to come home and Refry my french fries as they were completely raw. They were so raw when I bit into one of them I felt them I immediately had to spit it out. It’s crazy how they no longer will cook your phone order until you arrive, but then they give you raw food… Something is definitely broken in the system. The light skin guy is very condescending and was rude to me for some reason. On my prior visit, they burnt my fried green tomatoes to a crisp. Completely un edible they were so burnt. There was no way the chef should have sent that out of the kitchen. Unfortunately I did not check my food before leaving the building. The quality control has definitely went out of the window and I really tried to give them multiple chances before updating my review. I won’t be back after this time. I’ve wasted too much...
