Old Western Saloon — Restaurant in Fairfax

Excellent bar, bartender, and location but WORST crowd of local patrons. First time I've ever been to the establishment and my whole group was accused of stealing a woman's wallet that she had left on the bar top. Went so far as to even ask my girlfriend to look in her purse. My group was the target of accusations because we we're not "from around there", but yet my family has lived in Marinwood, San Rafael for over 60 years. The woman who had her purse stolen even accused the bartender of stealing her possessions even though they went to school together. The bartender and my local Inverness friends told me this woman and her friends have a reputation of starting fights in this bar. Why has this group of people not been banned from this bar since they have this reputation?

These people asked us on five different occasions over a three hour time span if we had stolen this woman's possessions. Personally asked me if we saw and "shady Mexicans or N-words (censored) " enter the bar. Is this what the "locals of Marin County" have turned to? Racism? These hostile locals had terrified my girlfriend to a point where she had broken down to tears from the purse interrogation. Probably better than my 3 stars suggests, because the odds of finding a good time to visit are maybe 50/50, they're also very well aligned with what common sense would dictate. What I mean is, go to see live music on a Friday or Saturday, or have an after-brunch early one afternoon of a nice weekend and you'll very likely want to take photos of everyone smiling together before you have to leave. Go almost any other time and you will more likely find- 😒 ...actually 🤔 no. Just no.🤨Do NOT "go almost any other time..."! Go on a Fri/Saturday Night for fun with friends, or Sat/Sunday Afternoon for fun with family. These bedrock fundamental Rules are as Old as Time.. Or Weekends.
