Deceptive Advertising, Poor Service, and Overpriced - Stay Away!
My recent experience at Whale of A Deli left me utterly dissatisfied, and I feel obligated to share my negative encounter to protect others from a similar unpleasant ordeal. I visited this establishment with the anticipation of savoring a pulled pork sandwich featuring their supposedly homemade BBQ sauce. However, what transpired was far from what was promised.
After placing my order for the pulled pork sandwich, my excitement turned to disbelief as I witnessed the staff using a cheap and ordinary Sweet Baby Ray's sauce instead of the advertised homemade BBQ sauce. This was a clear case of false advertising, and I expressed my concerns to the staff, hoping for a resolution.
After debating with the staff about how they shouldn’t advertise this, they offered to make another sandwich but after 30 minutes of waiting they merely presented me with the same original sandwich. As a result, the once warm but falsely advertised sandwich was now further cold and unappetizing. When I asked them to prioritize the new sandwich, they outright refused, insisting that I either accept the falsely advertised sandwich they were charging an outrageous $19 for or take a refund. The lack of accountability and customer service was astonishing.
Even more so, they left the menu as is, continuing to false advertise their food!!!!!!
It is unacceptable for an establishment to promote a signature item on their menu, only to deliver something entirely different. The audacity to charge a premium price for an inferior product is a blatant disregard for customers' trust and hard-earned money.
Whale of A Deli's behavior throughout this experience was unacceptable. The food quality did not live up to their claims, and the service was utterly lacking in professionalism and customer care. I caution anyone contemplating a visit to Whale of A Deli to reconsider. There are plenty of other reputable eateries in the vicinity that genuinely value their customers and provide both honest advertising and quality food. Spare yourself the frustration and avoid this place...
Read moreFood was very good. Strange thing is before paying we told the cashier we wanted to also get chips and drinks so she said to go ahead and get them so we did and came back to the front and were completely just ignored while standing there. Weren’t sure if we paid then or not, and seeing there was a line and a crowd of people standing and waiting figured we would sit down and wait. We noticed everyone started to get their food and I told my boyfriend if the order went in? So he went up and asked and she said yes, and he also said if he can pay now and the lady seemed to have given attitude that we opened the chips and drinks before paying and told him to next time go to the front before opening... well maybe you guys need to get off your phones and notice people standing with items in their hands or better yet, a sign? or better communication with clients on how it works for people who are not from the area. Before returning back to seat my boyfriend had also asked if they were able to cut the burrito in half since we were sharing. She pointed to the plastic knifes and said once you receive it just cut it yourself. Like, dude..I’m paying for a burrito and if I asked you a simple favor of cutting it while your already doing the burrito if you can cut it with a an actual sharp knife and not a plastic flimsy fork knife But it is it is and I guess that was something they can’t do? Not sure but for that reason I Made a little mess because it wasn’t easy cutting a burrito with a plastic knife. but besides that happening, The salmon “special”...
Read moreI feel sorry for these folks who appear to have no clue. They seem to be living on the precipice of extinction if my eyes don't deceive me. (Now you are thinking I'm a Silicon Valley entitled brat, and not a senior looking for a good business to support) I can't imagine how the other reviewers think this place is even "OK". Maybe the loud sports TV is enough? Rude, and probably stressed, slow service leaves you time to walk down the street to find a rest room, because they claimed to have none!
Possibly good ingredients cooked till dry, and presented with zero panache, but nevertheless strong market pricing . Dingy, dirty tables, because DIY table prep. alas. Gas-station style store shelves but without the alluring smell of gasoline, or dazzling illumination to check exactly what's on sale - glad there's nothing unfamiliar. Pass by and wait less time, in possibly longer lines, down the street.
New enthusiastic management, with customer-oriented eyes to see what I see, could make this the gold mine of Pt...
