Restaurant looked nice. Can’t say how the food was as we never got service. The couple we met got there a bit before us, after we got there we sat for about 15 minutes and weee never acknowledged. Another table came and sat next to us. Someone came over with menus for them immediately. They still didn’t acknowledge us. Someone else came fairly quickly and took the other tables order, didn’t look our direction at all even when we tried to signal him. He came back to the other table and chit chatted with them, still didn’t acknowledge us. One of our party went up to the bar and asked if we could get menus/be served. He disappeared for a few minutes and finally brought menus and mentioned happy hour which went til 7, we got there a bit after 6:30 and it was now 7:01(looked at my phone because of happy hour ending). We mentioned it was past 7 now and we’d been there 30 minutes. He said he’d give us happy hour anyway, then walked away. There was 4 tables including us, he went to 2 of the tables multiple times and chatted,no urgency at all. We waited another 10 minutes for him to come back before getting up and leaving. I was really looking forward to trying this place and am super disappointed. Our table consisted of all former restaurant workers and are really patient and usually have a great rapport with the staff and enjoy being friendly and just chill...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. This visit was a complete disaster and shows how one employee can ruin a business. When I arrived the music was blasting so loudly that people were making comments and even trying to sit outside just to escape it. The problem was that the only staff member on duty that never went outside to check on them. I watched two different groups sit there for about ten minutes with no service at all before they gave up and left.
Mind you there were only about three parties in the entire restaurant while I was there. One group even came in ten minutes after me, placed their order, and got their food to go before my order ever arrived.
I ordered a simple chicken sandwich within five minutes of sitting down. I had about thirty minutes to eat and get back to get back to the courthouse. At the 25 minute mark the server finally brought out the wrong sandwich. This was after I had already paid since I was on a tight schedule. At that point I had no choice but to walk out without any food even though I had paid for it.
This is exactly the kind of poor service that puts restaurants out of business. Good food means nothing if the staff cannot handle even the basics of...
Read moreThe owner's focus is definitely on being an evening bar first, and a restaurant a distant second or third. It's right in the name, "Cedars corner bar.... AND kitchen". We went to get lunch, so my rating is for that. At 11:30am, Soul and Christian R&B music was blaring from the ceiling speakers. The service was indifferent like what you'd expect at a bar. I'm sure for an evening crowd, out to sit down at the bar for a couple drinks and mingle, Cedars is fine. It's just not focused on being a lunch or dining spot. Which is what makes the $20 cheeseburger outrageous. Or $16 for Avocado Toast! I've ate $16 avocado toast and it was worth it; but I promise you that is not what you will be served here. It's odd because the name and signage design suggests the inside is a quiet relaxed environment with a menu built using higher-quality food ingredients. It is not that, and not trying to be that. I wish Cedars well in downtown Fairfield, but we won't be going back for lunch or dinner. It's just not that kind of place. Across the street is a better cheeseburger, at half the price, without...
