We really wanted to like this new spot and gave it two honest chances—dinner and brunch—but both times were a letdown. Each visit left us more frustrated than the last, and unfortunately, the issues were not isolated.
First Visit – Dinner Date Night: Despite having a reservation, my husband and I waited nearly 50 minutes to be seated. We watched several walk-ins get seated before us. When I politely raised the issue with the host (a young woman at the front), she responded rudely and dismissively, only to later realize her mistake—but instead of apologizing, she gave us forced compliments like “I like your dress” and “your makeup is so nice,” which came off as insincere damage control. Even one of her coworkers seemed to notice she was mishandling the seating situation.
Things didn’t improve with dinner. We ordered the ribeye because we were told it came with the bone, only to receive a boneless cut. When we pointed it out, the server said, “Oh, I meant the tomahawk comes with the bone,” which we then opted for. She acknowledged the change and said it would take a few minutes. But instead of the tomahawk, the manager (a very unpleasant skinny man with black hair) returned with the same ribeye and told us, essentially, “Too bad, it’s already cooked.” No apology. Just a brusque, dismissive attitude. Completely unacceptable. Then he lied that the tomahawk is no longer available.
Second Visit – Brunch with Family: We decided to try again with the whole family, thinking maybe our first time was a fluke. It wasn’t. Even after receiving a text that our table was ready, we waited another 30 minutes to be seated. Again, we had a reservation.
This time with toddlers in tow, things were even more frustrating. They don’t allow strollers (understandable), but when we asked for a high chair, the same front host casually told us to just use the car seat instead (but not allowed to bring stroller? Is there was a place to park the stroller and take out the car seat, that would have also been understandable). Not exactly family-friendly. The drinks were average, and the chicken and waffles dish had barely any chicken on the plate. Service was indifferent at best, and again, staff seemed disengaged and unconcerned.
The only saving grace is the ambience (the drinks are cool), which is why I’m giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. It looks nice, but the service, attitude, and food do not live up to it.
As busy parents, waiting unnecessarily with toddlers is not just inconvenient—it’s disrespectful, especially with a reservation. After two visits, we’ve decided this place is not worth our...

Mama Por Dios is not your average Modern Mexican Cuisine. It's ambiance is fun and makes you think, "Wow, this is in Fairfield!?" As soon as you walk in, you'll immediately be drawn to the music, colorful decoration and an immersive digital ceiling! Their space is huge and have numerous tables, chairs and sections/ rooms for bigger parties.
The bathroom is also a wow factor! Ladies, take your girls here because the lighting is perfection!
Each section of Mama Por Dios is beautifully decorated and definitely aesthetically pleasing to the eye. However, if you get overstimulated quickly, then this place might not be for you. I'm talking flashing lights, loud music, people cheering, "Aye, aye, aye!" It's fun vibes all around. Almost "club like;" esp with a DJ present.
You may (or may not) have seen IG posts or TikTok reels about Mama Por Dios, bevcause when you're there to celebrate someone or something, they come our with big signs, lights and some drinks. However, IT IS NOT FREE. Unfortunately, it's an EXTRA $100 for them to come out with all of that + 7 alcoholic shots. This was a turn off for me, because what if you're there wanting to celebrate with Mama Por Dios but don't drink? People are attracted to the experience they see and hear about from other people, so it's a bummer for the ones who find out they can't get this experience because of that extra cost.
Okay let's talk food.
I ordered their Lobster Enchiladas, and I honestly wasn't amazed by it. It was just okay for me. It didn't feel like I was eating lobster to be honest. I just could't taste it. The sauce was tasty, a bit spicy, but yeah, I wish there was more lobster meat in it. For drinks, I only ordered a mocktail. I got their Mango Spa which I enjoyed.
Service: Our waitress was great. She was fun, interactive and made sure to check in with us in a timely matter. Nothing on our waitress but the kitchen somehow forgot to make almost 1/2 of our party's order. This was quickly corrected, but some did have to wait a few more minutes. And the bar also missed a second alcoholic drink that was ordered, too. One person in our party had asked two people about the drink she ordered.
Note: There is a two hour time limit.
Overall, if you're looking for vibey/ IG worthy drinks and an IG worthy restaurant- def check out Mama Por Dios. They do have a number of drinks and food with a fun/ pretty...
Read moreMama X Dios isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment you step inside, it's clear this is a place designed for upscale enjoyment and vibrant energy. If you're looking for a quiet, traditional Mexican meal, this isn't it – and that's precisely its charm.
The decor and atmosphere are truly exceptional, setting a high bar for modern elegance. Think lighted mirrored bathrooms that feel like a VIP lounge, and captivating video wall ceilings that immerse you in the ambiance. Every corner exudes a chic and modern vibe, making it a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate.
While traditional Mexican staples like burritos and chips and salsa are notably absent from the menu (their mantra is "Modern Mexican," after all), what they do offer is outstanding. The ceviche is an absolute standout – incredibly fresh and surprisingly filling, making for an amazing appetizer. Their margaritas, though initially off-putting in size, truly pack a punch and are simply amazing. For those who enjoy other spirits, the Long Island Iced Teas are crafted to make you feel like you're on a long, relaxing island getaway. Throughout your meal, professional waiters ensure you're well-cared for, even serving custom fruit-infused water, a thoughtful touch.
Be prepared for a party! Mama X Dios is a hub of non-stop celebration. Birthday shot flight services, complete with bottle service strobes and an entourage, are constantly flying to tables. This creates an amazing, high-energy atmosphere with great vibes all around. It's definitely not a quiet spot, but if you're looking for lively fun, you've found it.
Convenience is also a highlight. Their text reservation system via OpenTable is a nice touch, allowing you to roam about comfortably while waiting for your table. And for the ladies, the availability of purse hangers at the table is a small but much-appreciated detail.
One minor consideration is their operating hours. Like many upscale establishments, Mama X Dios functions as a "part-time restaurant," primarily focusing on dinner service during the week. On weekends, there's a transition period from around 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM where only appetizers and drinks are served while the kitchen preps for the evening rush. It's something to keep in mind when planning your visit.
Overall, Mama X Dios delivers a unique, upscale, and undeniably fun modern Mexican dining experience. With its stunning decor, delicious (and potent!) offerings, and an atmosphere that's always ready to celebrate, it's a destination worth...
