Guanacos Cafe & Pupuseria — Restaurant in Fairfield

WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU TURNED A MEAL INTO A LEARNING EXPERIENCE ??

Tomorrow, I am treating 3 guests to lunch at this restaurant, so I decided to give it a dry run today. I have never been to an El Salvadoran restaurant... not sure I've ever had El Salvadoran food, and I think the same holds true for the people joining me tomorrow for lunch.

Lunch was very good, but the hospitality was absolutely, unbelievably incredible.

Often, when you visit an ethnic restaurant, you are interacting with people who do not share English as their 1st language. There are many times they just assume you know what you are doing and the people taking the order don't offer much help.

NOT THE CASE HERE.

Samantha may not speak perfect English but it is pretty good and WAY better than my Spanish, and she took unbelievably good care of me once she figured out I was trying to navigate the landscape of a new type of food..

Check this place out and when you do, make a friend of Samantha if she's working. Do not leave the restaurant without trying the bread. It's amazing. I also enjoyed the enchilada and the chicken tamale, and I'll be trying another papusa on my next visit.

This is a restaurant that deserves to succeed. Pack up your sense of adventure and...

The food was good but the service was horrible I went there today with my family and the waitress that was a short light skin Latina with brown curly hair was rude from the beginning she asked for our drinks and made faces when we asked questions and was bussing the tables around us and when she was throwing everything in the basket and the water from that splattered on my arm but I ignored it I said thank you when she brought the drinks and food but she just ignored me and walked away while rolling her eyes and making a face. She never came back to ask if we needed anything or if we were ok after. We finished our lunch and I went to pay I asked for 2 separate checks and as I was explaining how they were going to be split she made snarky comments saying that she already know what we order that I didn't have to explain she just wanted to know how to split the checks but I was Literally explaining how she started then arguing with me that she was going to split them and with my brother yelling that she was doing it and to wait. Honestly I come here all the time and I recommend people too for there to be this...

I’ve would always come here with my family it was all good until , one day we came in a group and we placed our orders , they passed some of the foods out after more than 30 mts and it was some pupusas and We ordered 2 of The pescado Frito plate the waitress came and told us that they didn’t had any more fish and that if we wanted they had some on the way to be cooked so we obviously was not going to wait another 30 mts or more we left it there and ate what we had , months later We went their again thinking it was different and it was all good we placed the order we were waiting for the food to come passing the time two families came and were being served before us like an hour waiting and the same waitress came to tell us that our food order was cancelled and if we wanted to order again and it was just a pissed time for us because all we expected was our food to be out and having our little toddler waiting for her food for it to be cancelled was heartbreaking, never coming back again , the food is all good be they should have more staff or be more cautious for what...
