Original: Great service and prices, great food served in big portions, this place is awesome
Update: terrible service on my to go order. Sauces are listed as verde(green in Spanish) so I ordered the red verde which I was told was the red sauce. Low and behold I received the green sauce, not a huge issue, called and spoke to a manager. Manager told me that I should have known it was green sauce because of the verde. I asked him why I was offered the options of green or red verde to which he said in Spanish I should’ve known better and that if I did not know how to order I should not have ordered. I’m a native Spanish speaker, so I understood every word and called him on it. He tried to brush it away and then said I’m busy and hung up. I should mention on my first trip to this restaurant I sat at a table for 45 minutes without anyone coming to take our order, the manager asked me to give the restaurant another shot which I did and always had a great experience but after this experience I will never ever go...
Read moreUpdate as of 2/4/25. I went back to give it another try. I had a chorizo taco and a carnitas taco, black beans, and a top shelf margarita. The margarita was great. The chorizo taco's corn tortilla was super hot (too hot to touch)...the chorizo...not. I would call it luke warm. The carnitas taco meat was warmer but very fatty. The black beans were marginal...like they just poured black beans out of a can and heated them. Minimal flavor. As for service, I went into the bar, sat down, waited several minutes for a server to come in, and they were not busy at all. When my tacos came out, it took several minutes for the beans to show up. Very disappointed. I am not likely to go back again. I used to love this place, but it has gone downhill.
Original post: I had 3 taco's (Al Pastor, Chorizo, and Carnitas). They were good, but not as good as the ones at La Pinatas near Northgate (and not nearly as good as Valley Escondido!). Chips, salsa, and margaritas were very good, and...
Read moreI compare all Mexican restaurants to Abuelos and this one rates very well as far as the quality of ingredients but is not as authentic as Abuelos. the ground beef was not greasy like some restaurants are. The shredded beef was completely fat free and all tender quality meat, the shredded chicken was moist and they put a lot of meat inside the enchiladas. The service was however lousy. After our meal was served he only stopped by once and never again. I ran out of drink and did not get a refill until we finally flagged him down to give us our check and I asked for a to go drink. Then when we got the check he didnt tell us we pay on the way out so we sat there waiting of him to come get our check. There were dirty tables that sat there the whole time we were there and they staff were just messing around doing nothing. There were only 3 people in there on a Sunday around 2pm and the table was still dirty...
