4th and inches! By that I mean, so close; this could and technically ‘should’ be a 5 star rating. Birthday dinner, arrived on time for a 7:30pm for two, excited and looking forward to the usual fabulous cuisine and dining experience. Upon arrival we were immediately seated in the new edition of the restaurant, contemporary glass bar area, not cozy, but no problem. The timing of the service could not have been better. We were greeted and welcomed by the server and ordered and brought two martinis straight away which were perfect. We ordered the appetizer, the House Made Meatballs and Italian Hot Peppers. Both were absolutely superb, however, about half way through the peppers I felt a sharp pain. I removed a large, flat triangular chunk of plastic which had jabbed the roof of my mouth. Ouch! We notified the server who clearly felt terrible and took the shard of plastic away on a bread plate. The manager came immediately, Enrique I believe, and he could not have handled the situation any better apologizing profusely and stating he would take care of this, us. He was kind, completely understanding and appreciative I didn’t fuss about it. We were brought two more martinis we did not ask for however, nor did we want, so the table was soon overly full with four martinis and two glasses of red wine. We finished the meatball portion and continued to enjoy ourselves. The dinner arrived, Chicken Scarpiello and Angus Sirloin. WOW! Both dishes were not only outstanding, but above and beyond generous portions. The chicken was tender and juicy and flavourful. The angus steak was undercooked and although we did have to send it back to be re-fired, it nothing short of perfection! It was so good in fact, my dinner date went so far as to exclaim “This is the best steak I’ve ever had”. I agreed, exceptional. Finally when we were ready to head out and the bill came, there was no deduction (of any kind). My wonderful companion began to pay it despite but rethought it. We discussed and agreed that the peppers with the plastic shard at the very least should have been removed and perhaps the drinks as a decent apologetic gesture, not just the two unwanted martinis. Long and short, the dish in question was removed upon quiet mention. No harm, no foul. All in all, this is still a favourite place and frankly, if you are looking for an unbelievable $85.00 steak for a mere $44.00, Paci is the...
Read moreMy wife and I walked in this restaurant last night around 6pm as we stepped off the Southport train station on our way from NYC and waited for an Uber. We were excitedly curious to discover a new local restaurant. I quickly made conversation with a late 50s early 60s woman who appeared to be one of the hostesses/managers and approached us as we walked in. As she discovered that we had no reservation, rather than perhaps suggesting we have a drink at the bar while waiting for our Uber, she actually motioned us to the door unequivocally suggesting we leave! Let’s forget about a lack of business sense altogether, I just cannot think of a more rude individual. My suggestion to this restaurant’s owner: get rid of her! She has no place being in the hospitality industry and she is hurting your business. She should remember what her paycheck depends on... no...
Read moreI hosted an event for 22 people at Paci and it was amazing! Everyone loved the atmosphere and the food was excellent. The staff is THE BEST; very courteous and attentive. We started our gathering at the gorgeous bar, surrounded by windows, with a view to the beautiful patio (which unfortunately we didn’t use because it was wintertime). For dinner we moved to the private loft upstairs, equipped with a large TV screen where we displayed videos and a slide show. The loft is perfect for small parties, 30 people or less. Their menu is always changing, particularly the fish and side vegetables, depending on what is fresh and in season. If you are planning an event with a set menu be ready to be a little flexible. Paci is an upscale, chic venue. If you want to impress, or have a special occasion/event, I highly...
