I just got lunch here. The food was pretty good I just got two eggs bacon and sausage with homefries and toast. The service was horrible though. The server just came up to the table with their pen and pad and didn't say anything. No "hey how are you doing?, welcome to southport diner, can I start you off with something to drink?" none of that. They somehow managed to not say a single world the whole time. After an awkward ten seconds of no greeting and him just standing there I just told him my order. They didn't say anything after that they just wrote it down and walked away. No "ok we'll get it started right away thank you" nothing at all. When they delivered the food they didn't ask "anything else I can get for you right now?" they just dropped it off in silence. They didn't ask me how the food was. So I felt really bad not leaving a tip but c'mon you have to have some level of customer service to get a tip. They didn't say one word to me the entire time as if they were just a robot coming up to the table I punch in my order and that's it. Also the water glasses were not cleaned well there were stains from previous customer's on the glass. Your servers have to acknowledge the guest, be friendly, engage with them, and follow basic guidelines of service (greeting, repeating the order back to the guest, checking in on them every 5 mins or less to see if they need anything else, saying "enjoy" or something at least when dropping off the food, offering desert at the end, when dropping off the check ask them how everything was and tell the guest to have a nice day). Those are basic things that any good restaurant service staff follows. I asked for the receipt since the server never even dropped off my check after being done with my meal for over ten minutes. The person checking me out at the register said that they can't give me the receipt because the check is closed. I've worked with Toast POS systems you can print its really easy you just go to closed checks, select the check number, and hit print. Any restaraunt POS system allows you to view closed checks from that current day. I will not be...

Read moreTerrible. A memorably bad breakfast here on a Saturday morning. Started with a gruff, unwelcoming greeting from the "host" followed by a lipstick stained coffee cup--sent that back--which was replaced by a clean cup of terrible coffee. My omelette was not recognizable as an omelette. It was some kind of bizarre frittata-like mashup that was so overcooked, dry, and bland it took only a couple of bites to confirm it was inedible. Maybe the cook could have googled what an omelette is supposed to look like?? The accompanying mess of home fries were unevenly heated with cold spots throughout and--again--completely devoid of any flavor. Have these people never heard of seasoning? Herbs? They even managed to ruin an English muffin. On the plus side, my server was very nice. I won't be returning, but it's important that this business gets honest feedback about issues they can address to improve their offerings and the...
