Thank you Sadie for a great experience with Panini Pete's!! Your knowledge of the menu and the daily specials changed my life! And your courtesy of seating us so near closing time really showed that classic Southern Hospitality everyone speaks about! Sadie sat is down and gave us a moment to review the menu and order some drinks. She came back and asked if we wanted to hear about the specials and I must say, I usually just order the regular menu items anyway, but since this was the first time at this establishments I decided to go ahead and take a chance! She told us what the specials were and was very very descriptive of everything they had to offer! She answered all the questions we had pertaining to those specials and explained ingredients very very well! Ultimately I decided on one of their special items since it's not on the main menu and I was not displeased! The food came out very quickly and it was top notch! This establishment has probably the best sandwich I've ever had in my life! They're black eyed peas that they made were absolutely outstanding! We are looking forward to coming back when we come to Alabama again in the fall! We are looking forward to trying the famous beignets! Pani Pete's is a must try in my opinion and my fiance's! There's nothing on their menu that wouldn't satisfy even the pickiest of eaters with the most judging palate! Thank you Sadie and...
Read morePanini Pete's is one of those few restaurants deserving of more stars than the five allowed on Google. Being featured on the Food Network's "Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives" and also "Guy's Big Bite" it was on my restaurant bucket list. And I finally scratched it off that list.
Nestled in the small "French Quarter" area of Fairhope, Al, the restaurant has a quaint courtyard and also some indoor seating. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside, but since the wait line had about 20 people in it, we chose "first available" and unfortunately were seated indoors. That's OK, though...it did not affect how wonderful the food was.
My wife and I both had "Pete's Muffaletta Panino" and it was beyond good. Slices of mortadella and salami with melted cheese and an olive muffuletta salad on grilled sourdough bread. One word...unbelievable! This sandwich is on the "100 things to eat in Alabama before you die" list, and there's a very good reason it's on the list.
Unfortunately, they were sold out of beignets, another of their specialties, but we'll be back next year. Now we know they also serve breakfast and that's when they generally run out of the beignets, so you have to arrive before 11 A.M. if you want one.
If you're ever near Fairhope, AL, do yourself a favor and give Panini Pete's a try. You will not be...
Read moreJust finished what you could call breakfast at this place. I'm normally a five star reviewer of restaurants by default. Me and my 18 month old got there at 10:40, which is apparently the worst possible time of the day to show up. They have stopped serving breakfast at 10:30 and they don't start serving lunch until 11. She asked me if I wanted to try to order something for breakfast anyway, so I tried. She brought me my check before the food showed up, I had to ask for napkins and silverware, and I got a breakfast bowl which can better be described as a sadness ball of runny eggs. And it showed up at 11, I've already finished feeding my son and he was ready to go, which I would have much rather have ordered lunch to begin with if it was going to take 20 minutes to get a breakfast bowl. Then as I tried to leave, I barely ate any of it, the lady asked me if I wanted a to-go box for it and I just looked at her like she was from outer space because clearly it was terrible. Then she said out loud that she was actually waiting for me to "get out of the way" while I was packing up my son. until that last comment I would have said at least the server was nice. This place really needs to adjust this breakfast lunch gap, and definitely stop serving sadness bowls that are cold if you're going to make...
