This was my first order from this restaurant. They have the option for Teff Injera and I wanted that option. The restaurant called me to let me know there was an additional charge for each of the menus items if I wanted to have "Teff Injera". When I opened the order there was indeed 1 Teff Injera for each of the items. It was not enough. Perhaps if they had told me it was Teff Injera imported from Ethiopia I would have made an additional order of just injera. The veggies were over cooked, mushy. It reminded me of canned vegetables. I called the restaurant to let them know I was disappointed. They expressed their concern that I was disappointed but said that they have been doing business this way for many years and no one else was disappointed. This was when I learned that the Teff Injera was imported. They were condescending in explaining to me how "regular" injera is prepared with wheat and other grains. That is not my experience. I have had injera prepared by friends, relatives and in other restaurants which use only Teff and that is what I consider as regular injera. It doesn't fall apart and is not wafer thin as was their imported injera. So if you order just know the Teff Injera might disappoint you...

Johann is super friendly. Whenever we come here, it starts out relatively quiet, but whenever we leave, more people are coming in for lunch or dinner. We usually split a vegetarian platter and an omnivorous platter. It's a good price, and they give plenty of injera to go with their menu items. The food is tasty, but then in the DC area, I haven't really had any bad Ethiopian food. So maybe the ambiance isn't as authentic as places around Adams Morgan, but it's an easier location for us, and I'm happy with the menu.

The businesses off of Old Columbia Road have small lots. If you are coming from the south, it might just be easier to turn into the Burtonsville Shopping Center and then turn back around south so it's an easier right turn into their lot. It's really not that bad, but sometimes during rush hour,...

Their food might be the best tasting around but I would never now after sitting for 35 minutes no one ever came to take our drink order. We were a party of 12. There was a couple sitting next to us who have their drinks but was waiting to give their order for their meal but was waiting to give their order for their meal. Another table of three gentlemen Another table of three gentlemen. No other partyNo other party was in the restaurant.

A few weeks later we called to make a reservation, very unprofessional people was on hold hair their conversations with other guests and among themselves. Never got to make my reservations. Handed up the phone and call them back, he apologized he forgot he put me on hold.

Find a another Ethiopian restaurant their servicetheir...

This was my first time here. I came to celebrate a friends birthday. It’s super cute and quaint. The atmosphere is clean and lovely. Very inviting. Staff is very friendly. The food looks like a little but trust me if you’re starving like I was it’s more than enough. The mango juice was fresh and the injera was amazing!!! I do prefer my beets to be cubed and cold rather than cooked but that’s justes personal preference. Other than that, I will certainly be returning to try the ceremonial coffee. We were able to see this demonstrated for the table next to us!!! Thank you for wonderful service.

The restaurant is small, but it is welcoming and feels cozy. They didn't have the Doro wot, which I always order at the ethiopion restaurant, but other than that, everything else was great. The vegetarian dishes tasted little different than other Ethiopion places, but it was still good. The fish and lamb tibs were tasty. Overall, the service was good and it is a nice place to try out ethipion food. Tried Doro wot for my second time, and it was good. It wasn't the traditional drumsticks chicken that is served in other restaurants. I still loved the taste. I added more pics.

This is my absolute favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the DMV. I typically eat here 2-3 times a month. I’m basically addicted to their food. I usually order the lamb tibs, vegetarian platter and chicken/ beef sambusas. I’ve tried their doro wot and tilapia tibs and they were also delicious. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The dishes are so flavorful, fresh and healthy. Also, the family that runs the business it so sweet and they have the best customer service. I always look forward to going to Ahadu.
