Fairview Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Fairview

I just moved to the area and of course, had to immediately find my go-to take out Chinese food. Unfortunately, Fairview is not the place. Although I did not try everything, I can share my thoughts on what I did order. The General Tao's Chicken was flavorless and tasted more like seasoned ketchup instead of a true General's chicken sauce. It was very bad and disappointing. The boneless spareribs tasted like burnt wood. It was completely over-cooked (or broiled) with too many charred black spots. But what was worse was that there was no sweetness to the dish and it was very difficult to to chew. Lastly, the roast pork fried rice was woefully under-seasoned and contained barely any meat or vegetables. It looked more like plain yellow rice one would receive in a Mexican restaurant. The egg roll was very good but they usually are in any Chinese restaurant.

Ownership is terrible. Food is good, better than most in the area these days if it comes correct. They dont honor any of their coupons. They often screw up orders - no apology and will tell you you have to come to the restaurant to fix their mistake. Overall there is just a lot to be desired especially as they raise their prices without raising their level of service. Also, fried rice is supposed to be white fried brown NOT yellow rice with vegetables. Clearly i still order from here but there's a place on tonelle ave in north bergen thats overall way better except they dont deliver. Its across from the home depot. So given a choice, I'd def recommend there over fairview chinese but for convenience purposes, fairview chinese ...

Usually order from here, the food is somewhat good, but the customer service is not. The man on the phone was unnecessarily rude, my mother was trying to place an order, and he got very impatient with her and started yelling. I immediately told her to hang up, because such behavior was uncalled for and she did not deserve the disrespect considering that she is dealing with an illness at the moment. The woman that is there and usually takes our order has never given us any problem or disrespect, the delivery driver is very kind and quick to deliver our food. But whoever this man was that took our order needs to seriously reevaluate his attitude. Awful experience, and do not plan to order...
