Faneek's — Restaurant in Fall River

An old Fall River standard.

One of the few original Coney Island places left in the city.

I ordered a "chourico roll" and was asked if I wanted a "roll" or a "rolle" which both sound alike of course, and the young woman couldn't explain the difference, which made me think I was in a real-life Pink Panther movie, until I remembered what city I was in.

There's no explanation why the "Original Hot Dog" and the Faneeks Rolle" have the exact same description but the "Rolle" is $3.90 and the "Original" is $1.80.

So I ordered the "R O L L" (yes, I had to spell it out) for $1.80 and got what I expected, which still tastes good!

I asked for small fries, but I guess I wasn't clear so I was charged separately for the fries, rather than being charged for a "plate" which is no big deal, but would have been nice.

I always stop in to Faneeks when in the area and they always provide the same tasty hot dog and chourico roll they always have.

Even if they now have confusing names for them!

Thanks to the owner for describing the "rollé" though it's always better to describe an item on your menu, especially when it's a unique item and when your own staff isn't familiar with it. It's too much to ask for the customer to figure this all out.

There seems to be a bigger issue than training new staff, as the owner replied, "Also we don't have plates..."

You might want to re-read your own menu board (pics are in the reviews) because it says, "Upgrade any item to a plate w/fries for an additional $2.50"

Again, the food is great and good for you for keeping the Faneeks tradition alive, but the defensive attitude and excuses are...

Deleted my old review and gave this place a fresh start! I'm glad that the owner reached out to me after my expectations were not met and invited me back.

I got a chance to meet Chris the owner today and looked forward to trying the items he recommended.

The dogs w/the works today was much better then the first time I had them. The buns were fresh and crisp vs. What seemed like a thicker moist bun my first time around (possibly mistaked the Coney bun for a larger bun) either way was much more enjoyable.

As recommended I tried the dino dog and although it wasnt my favorite dog of all time it wasnt due to the quality it just wasnt my type of hot dog. It still had alot of flavor and looked great I had no issue finishing it lol.

I was also recommended the spicy quahog an as I was eating it could still see chunks of clams hanging out. Would definetly eat that again. I did get a few other recommended items to take home chow mein sandwich and a cheesecake roll. I'd like to note the customer service was much better all around the staff were great today.

As myself and a friend were eating I kind of jumped into Chris's convo with another guest and we started talking about all the local eateries and places to try. Some of the Cities highlighted areas ended up being a good convo between a few guests and the owner. My biggest take away from the visit was Chris's commitment to flavor and uniqueness as well as his involvement into the city.

"Faneek's"* Is a Pretty Good Place to Go there for LunchOr Maybe a Quick Bite for Dinner. The Hot Dog's Are Good. The Coney Sauce Ok. The Fries Aren't Nothing worth Bragging about(They're Short Cut, Greasy & Soggy & Bland tasting). But I DO Like Their Fried Haddock Fish which Is Lightly Coated In a Supposed Beer Batter then Deep-fried to Crispy Good Perfection. So I'd Order The Fish & Chips (Large 3 Fish Pieces Portion)* But I'm Not That Crazy About Their "Chips"(Fries)* Part. Now If They Could Only Get Better French Fries? I'd Probably Give them an Extra Star 🌟 ;) I Also Like Their Beef* Chow Mein Sandwich(I Only Wish They Offered A Pork Meat Gravy Version As well).*The Service Is Pretty Good & The Guy Cook & Server "Rodney" (with His Gorgeous Black Curly Hair😍) Is a Hard Worker, Is Very Respectful & Nice & Always makes my Day Whenever I drop by for a bite to eat there.
